State looked slooow against A&M. A&M was sloppy in the 1st half and played down to State.
Time will tell how the Roof hire will play out.
Trust the visor.
Happy New Year App family!

My family had a house on Hickory Point off Rockcrusher from the 60s up until a year or two ago. I went to Central Davidson. I live in Boone now.

Your new head coach was 5-6 this season in FCS. That should give you pause.Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 11:35 pmYou make a good point, Roof architected the defense that just lost 52-13. That would give me pause too.MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 10:59 pm45-9Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 9:12 pmI said I liked the hire. Do they not teach reading comprehension at App?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 1:51 pmSo what is it that you don’t like about him? If UNC-H hired a DC with 31 years of coaching experience, 18 years as a DC, 15 of those at the P5 level and a National Title, would you not be salivating?Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 1:19 pm
So you are saying I was being nice about your DC hire in an effort to pull the wool over your eyes when in fact I think it is a bad hire. But, because you cannot be fooled, you are going to agree with me. I am confused--do you really like Roof, or are you just saying that to trick me?

So are we saying as Co-DC Roof had no part in game planning, schemes, and in-game adjustments? Just asking...for a friend!HighPointApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 10:29 pmIt's not Roof's D. It's Coach Dave Huxtable's D. Hence the "Co" before Roof's title. Pointing out the obvious.

Roof has been there for this season only and inherited the players out there.JROCK98 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 7:43 amSo are we saying as Co-DC Roof had no part in game planning, schemes, and in-game adjustments? That should give him stop and in most instances like this, rewind. But they can’t go backwards any further so rewind is not an option.MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 12:47 amYour new head coach was 5-6 this season in FCS. Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
App just retained the guy on staff many on here wanted as DC to run the 3-4 and the 3-4 linebacker coach. Roof will not be orchestrating the defense, it’s already in place and have at least two guys on staff to run. Roof will be more like a high level manager with great employees that lets his guys do the heavy lifting.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
FYI, Georgia Tech gave up an average of 29.3 points/gm this season, while NC State gave up 24.9/gm (per cfbstats.com). Stats can be used to make any point you want to make, if you pick and choose the right ones. In this instance, a coach who most would argue as a home run (Woody), led a defense that gave up 5 more points per game than the guy many are arguing will be the worst hire in ASU football history.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Just to add some context to this stat; woody was in his first year of transition to the 3-4, which if you recall, App had some pretty bad defenses the first couple years in our transition. It takes several years to get the right players in the scheme and then the right players familiar enough with that system to be truly successful. I think this season was the first one where all of that really came together.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:14 amFYI, Georgia Tech gave up an average of 29.3 points/gm this season, while NC State gave up 24.9/gm (per cfbstats.com). Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Agreed, and Drink himself is only what 35? I like all of these young up and comers on staff...but I also like having a heavily experienced guy that's seen a lot of different things at different schools on board. I'm hoping that Roof, if he's our guy, will play that mentor role for the young coaches...and also for the players to get a different perspective from an older guy. There's value in that kind of diversity.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 10:23 pmThis is huge, but not a surprise if Ted Roof is the actual DC. The only way the Roof hire makes sense is for the intangibles he can bring to support the staff. As I said on a previous post, my hope was that we kept Gasp and Roof acted more as a mentor--film room and game prep. All of the other hires are young up and coming guys, then you have Roof (who's defense is getting torched as I type this).

My guess would be it’s New Year’s Day. It could come out today, but I would expect tomorrow probably if it is Roof.

We look to have about a perfect mix of new and retained coaches. Keep on second guessing, conspiracy theorizing and whining if you like,as for me I’m excited for the future of my football team.

You’ll have to go back through all the threads to identify them, I’m not doing it.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:34 amWho wanted Gasparato as the DC?NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:13 amApp just retained the guy on staff many on here wanted as DC to run the 3-4 and the 3-4 linebacker coach. Glad this ride is coasting to an end and we’re not sweating out every coaching vacancy (UM, WVU, etc...). The inevitable happened and DG was ready. The world didn’t end, and we have much to hope for in a blend of new and familiar coaches and a great returning team. All is well on the mountain.

Probably but he’s not making the overall calls. Nor was Roof tackling or taking bad angles for tackles.

It would be an Epic troll job if he isn’t the guy and these last 50 pages were for naught.
