My point is ( and someone else alluded ed to the same thing) all 4 were cores of our D. It’s one thing to replace 1 all conference player but 4 is a tall order.

You haven’t been paying attention. We shouldn’t regress at all on defense. If we do, it is because Roof was the wrong hire. It has nothing to do with losing our corners, lb, and NT.

This is premature because we obviously do not know who the last two coaches will be but did anyone ever imagine we would have this kind of coaching staff at App? It is crazy to think about

Ok Ted, you’ve been our DC for more than a day. Time to get your twitter feed with the program.

Junior certainly had no trouble changing his the moment he was announced this evening.

Two points:AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:01 pmSo I will ask you the same question as the other skeptic. What, in your mind is a decline? I'm remaining positive because these players have a great work ethic and truly do give their all to App State.
I hope the players know the fans are behind them 100%, which probably leads a few of us to act like divas when administration does something we might not agree with totally (myself included)
But its important to remember that Roof is by all accounts a players' coach and has worlds of experience that all players can benefit from.
Best is yet to come! GO APP!
A good coach is going to have a strong year in 2019 because we do have the talent. If we struggle this year I'll blame coaches 100% for putting players in bad positions and not getting them coached up.
I support Roof 100% unless I see our defense decline this year.
1. Last time I checked, the players made the plays, not the coaches. Obviously, there's a relationship that both coaches and players are involved in success or failure. But, this isn't Madden. The DC is not the sole reason for success or failure. What happens if Roof makes the defense better?
2. Almost everyone on this board was happy with Gillin hiring Drink. Likewise, Drink was praised for hiring Dorsey (and other hires). I don't think Drink instantly turned into an idiot when hiring Roof. Nor, did Gillin.
Drink has worked with Roof on two occasions. He has seen qualities in Roof that makes him "his guy" for DC.

I wonder if Roof manages his own twitter. He's one of us older folks who may not be as hip as some. He may need to get someone in the Athletic Department to do it for him. **this comment is only partly tongue in cheek, it may very well be true.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 9:24 pmOk Ted, you’ve been our DC for more than a day. Best post of this thread! We still have great players that can accomplish something special next year. Stick together boys, looking forward to only getting better.AppNC wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 1:30 pmAs a parent of a defensive lineman, who is hearing negativity on social media, all I can do is speak positivity into the situation. True, and look at how the team responded in New Orleans just days after losing their head coach and defensive coordinator, as well as others. This still young team is destined for even more greatness.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 9:53 pmBest post of this thread! Well, actually, considering these guys were early P5 recruits, we should be backfilling them with even better players. No offense to these guys, because I Love them all, but we should have guys on par or better waiting to step up. That is how this FBS thing should work. Hopefully they don’t have “loose lips” like Stout did with his less than considerate and emotionally driven comments after the Bowl game. I’m still a bit perturbed about that one.

Clark, Scott, and Earle will get the done. No worries at NT if they stay healthy.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 10:29 pmWell, actually, considering these guys were early P5 recruits, we should be backfilling them with even better players. If App is looking for a DL coach, then Coach Allen Smith from Wofford should be looked at.
He was a GA at App in 2015 and current DL Coach at Wofford where they had 22 sacks this year.

Does he have P5 experience? That seems to be the prerequisite for outside hires.ClickClackApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 10:42 pmIf App is looking for a DL coach, then Coach Allen Smith from Wofford should be looked at.
