I like all the hires except one ... here’s hoping for the best! They need to become best buds now and get the chemistry working. Get the kids to buy in and dismantle everyone we line up against. Without chemistry and buy in it won’t matter who our coaches are. Get it done!

What? Eli was in the ACC. Most of the staff either came from or have been in P5 conferences.ClickClackApp wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 1:28 pmDrink's pitch to these high profile guys probably is "help me dominate for two years and I'll move us all to the ACC/$EC"
I'm fine with that.

That makes me breathe ALOT easier when I think about stopping the triple option with the new staff. Love this hire.appfan1991 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 12:49 pmCoached with Sloan last year at the stink - should be interesting

Nah, the breakfast and lunch are pretty good, and a fair value. It's much more than just "tourist trap". Not worth waiting in line.PennywiseEsquire wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 2:16 pmIt’s a tourist trap and nothing else.appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 6:22 pmNot to derail this thread..... There aren't a lot of haters in the real world. This is the internet where anonymity and outrage rule.

I actually like DBI also. While I don’t think it’s worth a wait, it’s still good for what it is. The breakfast is much better and a better deal.

+1 on that. I've been twice. Last time was with family when they came to visit in '95. I lived in Doughton and it was convenient to walk to, but I just never cared to go there unless my family was visiting.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 8:19 amI LOVVVVVE the DBI. I don’t go. My mom and dad took me once when I was a freshman back in ‘92 and we didn’t care for it. As I see it, every person who goes there and waits in line for overpriced Cracker Barrel, isn’t clogging up some place I’d choose to go. So, I hope it remains the “go to” destination in Boone for many, many years to come.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 1:32 amWent a couple of years ago for my oldest graduation; we were not impressed and I don't intend to return.scatman77 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:27 pmNo, you're not. Many moons ago we could eat for $5.00. Now last I checked it's $17.00. The chicken and ham biscuits are still great but the veggies......appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 6:22 pmNot to derail this thread..... Can I get an AMEN!?!?!J84 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 1:27 pmFirst time post based on reading almost every page of this historical (and at times hysterical) thread.
Now that the staff is complete, hopefully everyone who follows and supports app state football will realize how fortunate we are to have the program we do
Great players
Great coaches
Great athletic dept
Great fan support
4 out of 5 of the p5/g5 schools would gladly swap places with App State - an amazing statement after only 5 seasons.
For what it’s worth, our program has a pretty impressive batting average with change, even when the message board chatter thought the sky was falling. And each change has seemed to work out even better than the last - Charlie Cobb and Doug Gillin have taken great care navigating our our program through these changes.
Under Charlie Cobb:
Championships
Michigan
Moore to Satt
FCS to FBS
Raised over $15 mil
Major facility improvements
Under Doug Gillin
P5 schools coming to Boone
4-0 in bowl games
Unprecedented move to FBS
Raised over $30 mil, and still going
New scoreboards in stadium & gym
Major stadium improvements soon
Satt to Drink
So while each of these moves were doubted by many, they worked out pretty well - EVERY TIME
Thank you Charlie
Thank you Satt
Thank you Doug
And welcome to the Rock Coach Drink
You have amassed the most knowledgeable, respected, and well rounded coaching staff ever to be in Boone.
And to the “No Roof” chants, c’mon folks. Put down the knife and look at the track record of the people making these decisions. They know what they are doing, and have the best interest of our players and our program driving every call, email, and offer. Everyone should have an opinion and feel free to voice it. But when it comes to decisions being made the the people leading our program (unless you have been a D1 AD, HC, OC, or DC) let’s respect, trust, and support their efforts.
These Coaches can coach and mentor young men - no matter how they line up on the field. As good as our defense is, it was not a secret code known only by guys that left.
Coach D has sold the App culture and potential to some amazing coaching talent. Just think how well these guys will sell App to kids wanting be a part of something special. Our success will continue and the fall can’t get here soon enough.
Never more proud to be a Mountaineer

You guys do realize that Harbison did not stay at Georgia Southern but a few weeks right? He left and went to Arizona.Apptrain wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 5:41 pmThat makes me breathe ALOT easier when I think about stopping the triple option with the new staff. I would choose baking in the desert over Statesboro, Ga too! But he may have had a better reason than me for his decision.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 8:38 pmYou guys do realize that Harbison did not stay at Georgia Southern but a few weeks right?
