Avoid Like the Plague
It's pretty much a virtual certainty that there's going to be a change at the top in ASU Men's Basketball. The change could still occur during the season but it will definitely occur at the end of the season unless some miracle happens and we really go on a tear.
I sat down last night and wrote out a list of coaches. Not possible replacements for Jim Fox but coaches ASU needs to avoid as replacements. I avoided former ASU coaches such as you know who. I don't see any realistic reason to even think they'll be considered this time around. I named eight. Please feel free to add. Also feel free to disagree with some of my choices.
Avoid like the plague:
1. Brad Greenberg--Not Seth
2. Randy Peele
3. Buzz Bzdelik
4. Mike Dement
5. Jeff Lebo
6. Eddie Biedenbach
7. Ricky Stokes
8. Mark Gottfried

He didn’t want to be here the last time (and Mrs. Peterson) didn’t come at all. No need to even mention.

Unless it’s former assistant Matt McMahon. Unfortunately that ship has probably sailed..

I noticed that Matt Matheny's record at Elon in 10 years is only 141-148, and he's 5-14 this year so far (last place in the CAA). We're not the only struggling offshoot from McKillop's tree.

I wouldn't mind Wes Miller from UNC-G...in his last 3 seasons his teams have performed quite well.

Re: Avoid Like the Plague
Miller would be a good one. I'm sure that McMahon's name will appear on the message boards also if this becomes an actual issue. We would have to put together a better deal for either of those than we are paying right now though.appaneer1984 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 2:28 pmI wouldn't mind Wes Miller from UNC-G...in his last 3 seasons his teams have performed quite well.

Re: Avoid Like the Plague
I wanted to look up our RPI...(304) and I looked up our projected final record (5-23) so I think this thread is justified...But just for fun I looked at nearby mid majors with decent RPIs that we could potentially steal a coach. I am doing zero screening, just listing schools.

No worries about Eddie Biedenbach. He's been passed over by App ADs twice already; plus he'll turn 74 before August campus move-in rolls around. He's invested well over time and his wife is a top seller in the coastal NC beach boom. No moving vans and no worries!

Re: Avoid Like the Plague
wonder if Pat Kelsey would consider us, or would it be too much of a lateral move from Winthrop? Someone mentioned that he wanted the job back around the time when Buzz or Capel was hired, when he was an assistant at Wake. So far, the Winthrop admin has done a good job of keeping him in Rock Hill despite opportunities to move elsewhere.

Re: Avoid Like the Plague
I have a hard time seeing any D1 head coach outside of maybe the MEAC leaving their job for us.

Re: Avoid Like the Plague
Agree, why on earth would any D1 coaches at any program in the top 100 come to Boone? My guess salary wise is that they are already at or above what we pay.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 3:36 pmI have a hard time seeing any D1 head coach outside of maybe the MEAC leaving their job for us.
