At least Capel doesn't throw his players under the bus publicly game after game.
It's really as simple as the fact that people care more about men's basketball than women's.
But if I put some more thought into it, I'd say it is also due to the fact that women's basketball has more quality competition in the SoCon, as compared to men's.

The main thing I have taken away is the fact that they are just tired of Darcie's attitude. You can only be thrown under the bus so much by your coach before you just say to heck with it, and quit on her. The girls just have had their heads messed with too many times. It is really sad that this team is what it is but it's fine. We will really see how good of a coach Darcie is next year when she has half the talent of this team in a good SOCON next year. She never takes blame for anything it's always someone else's fault. I can't tell you how many times she has thrown Courtney Freeman and Kelsey Sharkey under the bus this season.
We gave Capel heck last season for his player relationships, so why are we not giving Darcie the same treatment. To be honest, hers may be worse at this point. Every game they lose it gets worse and quite honestly I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the ladies give up on her. Just my .02 but last night was over the top and highly unprofessional.
Once again that little old Baptist school in Birmingham has our number. I've never been a big fan of Darcie. Go to a practice and sit where nobody can see you and listen how she talks to those young ladies. Her language could make a sailor blush. As ASU66 pointed out she lost the team after blowing a fuse following that championship game. She has been under pressure to get that signature win ever since and that tension flows directly into the players. Any coach worth their salt knows you can't play scared and be effective. These kids need to understand they when they make a mistake it isn't the end of the world.
Because of her private life - yes I said it - and coaching style there is no way on Earth I even consider allowing my daughter play for her. She isn't a great role model for young women. OK lib's start firing away!
you mean because she's gay??? or did she do something horrible like kill puppies for fun??? if its because she's gay, maybe people who think like that shouldn't let their kids go to app because certain very high up administrator's whom we look upon fondly are possibly gay also...just not "outed" i mean hey...if lifestyle makes a bad role model...thats your opinion. i like the way she called out her team...she tells the truth. i'd rather her coach and put a fire under your butt than see apps men's team be laughed at because of poor play and air ball foul shots and we just hide our head in the sand. but im guessing you dislike her because you think that she's too hard on her team...and she's also gay. which do you dislike more?

How dare you say that, Beer Hat Guy!
Surely Kgfish is probably referring to the fact that, in her private life, Darcie has a special fondness for "alien bobbleheads". Everyone knows that a special fondness such as this would make a person a BAD role model for young women...
If Darcie's fondness for "alien bobbleheads" has lead to any "corruption" of the team, we'll be able to spot it in this series of videos, right?
http://www.youtube.com/user/kshark03/videos
I suggest that we begin sleuthing for evidence in the Costa Rica video, around the 7:14 mark:
Happy viewing!!

and on top of that, her record 73-26(go asu) is pretty good considering where asu women were just a few years ago...interestingly enough, the men were doing pretty good up until several people started having more influence because of their deep pockets...now look at them. maybe those who persuaded the administration to hire buck fuzz and then capel(43-48) will personally pony up the money to buy out capel.

Not aware of her killing any puppies, so yes I don't like the way she handles players or her lifestyle. But just as that is her business it IS my opinion and your weak attempt to demean it by making a sick comparison to a "certain very high up administrator's whom we look upon fondly" says a lot about you. I'd be very, very careful about spreading a vile rumor started by people within the university who would like nothing better than to see that person gone from ASU. Old news. Made the rounds a couple of years ago. But it was a nice try at deflecting. You may not care, others do. But again, let's ignore the fact that with four seniors in tow, the women's team will be fortunate to make it back to the championship game and Darcie appears to have lost them. I was a fan of her fiery style up until she continued to berate the players, they failed to respond, and she kept it up.
I don't often agree with Kgfish but Kgfish makes a very good point, one which you choose to ignore.
Criticism doesn't automatically equal "fire." That's why this board exists.

I don't think she's lost the team. She's been just as critical in years past after losses as she's been this year.
And, yeah... we had 4 seniors who have had very productive careers. But, there is a HUGE hole at point guard... evidenced by the amount of playing time Jessica Barrios has gotten as the season has gone on. We have no point guard. We've won a lot of games despite that... and we've lost some games as well (0 bad losses though, imo).

The record is actually 108-57. A lot of W's but no SoCon Championships. Not to mention her losing record 14-21 against the better programs in the conference - 5-8 vs Samford, 3-8 vs UTC & 6-5 vs Davidson.

i was merely asking which you disliked more...her track record and her coaching ways or her sexuality. and im not saying which administrator but you obviously have heard some type of rumor about someone...and its legitimate to say that if you dont like coaches because of their sexuality...then you also dont need to send your kids to app because of other leaders on campus. then again, calling out "libs" in your 1st quote def makes me wonder why you send them to app anyways...seeing that its a bastion for liberal thinking. that is unless most parents feel confident in knowing that their kids are well rounded albeit still young. great...you dont like vincent because of her techniques and you don't like her being a role model because she's gay. great...maybe you can find some guy out there to deprogram her or convince her that she's straight...good luck with that. in fact, why don't you just send her a letter stating your opinion. im sure you could make her see the light.

ps....change your picture...sutherland, being the lefty, pinko-commie-bastard, would hate to hear you talk-type like you do and even remotely use his likeness with your obtuseness. for you see, "oddball" probably wouldn't jive with your idea of what a role model is or is not. take this as a disrespectful reply or whatever but as a friend's father once said...and so aptly put..."it is, what it is."

The SoCon reg season title is good for nothing more than a banner, so it really doesn't count. What do Pollard & Cremmins have to do with our women's basketball coach? Oh yea, they got their teams into the NCAA Tournament Darcie hasn't. In spite of all the praise and hoopla surrounding Darcie she still hasn't made it to the NCAA tournament. This was supposed to be THE YEAR yet with four starters back from the team that won a school-record 27 games last season, we are 1-7 against top-five teams in the SoCon. It is just hard to argue against the facts. No PG eh? IN other words you're saying she hasn't done a good job in recruiting.

Getting a little excited there aren't you dude? Must have struck a nerve. I wouldn't not send my kid to App based on unfounded rumors about a certain "leader". There are a lot liberals on campus, but there are plenty of rock solid conservatives to keep them in check. Not my job to "deprogram" anyone and I'm sure she could care less what I think so no letter is warranted. I'm sure she has been told before. I don't like her coaching style and think it is much easier to draw bees with sugar than water. I know Sutherland is a flaming lib, but Oddball was a very non liberal character. Stealing millions in gold isn't exactly what being a good liberal is all about. I don't take this stuff nearly as serious as you obviously do. I also don't get my shorts in a wad because some one is disrespectful to me. My convictions are rooted deeply enough that the arrows tossed by others doesn't upset me. I'm not very tolerant of some things and I don't have to be. We all have to live with the decisions we make in life. It says a lot when someone resorts to being incongruous in attempting to make a point.
