I'm not much of a fan, but I saw Luke Combs playing along with Adam Church 6 or 8 years ago at The Rock (the bar). Flipside was our go-to on Wednesdays when they had 2 for $5 personal deep dish pizzas. It's still my favorite spot to date in Boone. Hate it's gone.

Re: Food,booze and Memories
I was at App in the early 90's, our favorite bar was Caribbean Café, it was actually mentioned in an issue of Playboy as one of the top college bars in the US. Loved talking to the owner, loved his Caribbean Jerked wings, hated when he packed up and moved down to Georgia. Piccadilly café used to be where the Lowes/Holiday Inn Express is now. That was our spot for Monday Night Football, there beer specials were cheap on those nights. Tijuana Fats in Blowing Rock was our spot for any liquor drinks back then. Good times.

As for prices; in the early ‘70s Antlers was our go to place. Draft beer was 30 cents and can beer was 40 cents. We NEVER, EVER considered paying the extra 10 cents! Always drank draft. And pitchers were $1.25.

At Clydes in the early 80's, happy hour 32 ounce "buckets" of draft were 90 cents. After a couple of those it was off the P.B.s for 55 cent "Little King" bottles.

I was at that show! I remember there was some weird dancing going on, like running and dashing or whatever. Maybe it's just my memory

They were not my thing that night, but like you said, the fuse was lit.

I believe this album cover from Doc, Merle, and the Band was taken at Clydes or Hollies (not sure which one): https://www.google.com/search?q=doc+and ... IrUVh0o1VM:

I wasn't in college during those years but I was a regular at the Caribbean Cafe. I believe CVS is where Piccadilly used to be.Deano wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 9:23 amI was at App in the early 90's, our favorite bar was Caribbean Café, it was actually mentioned in an issue of Playboy as one of the top college bars in the US. Caribbean was our favorite place for wings/beer. Mid 90s to '01. Rafters was the favor bar. Geno's was the place to watch the NFL games.Deano wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 9:23 amI was at App in the early 90's, our favorite bar was Caribbean Café, it was actually mentioned in an issue of Playboy as one of the top college bars in the US. Miss Boone being only beer, hate the chains that come in when liquor by the drink was passed.

Now that I think about it, I believe you are correct Piccadilly was a little further down the road where CVS is now, thanks.fjblair wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:46 amI wasn't in college during those years but I was a regular at the Caribbean Cafe. Re: Food, booze and Memories
Still a little fuzzy on it but I think you're right. All these people calling it Mother Fletcher's too. Guess they forgot the Library Club. I got hit on one night in there. One problem though, it wasn't by a member of the opposite sex. I wanted to hit back (in a different way) but my friends talked me out of it. Sad story too. the only time I was ever propositioned in a bar in my life. I stooped going there for a long time and only went back for happy hour and when Vic Mclean was working the DJ booth.

I'm pretty old, but, have any of you guys posted anything about a thing called "Rally Weekend at ASU" in the early seventies. Memory pretty foggy but I seem to remember something during that time happening. I was in high school at the time for most of them.

Just don’t go to the chains. There are some good restaurants in town where I can get a mixed drink should I choose.biggie wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:51 amCaribbean was our favorite place for wings/beer. Mid 90s to '01. Re: Food, booze and Memories
Does anyone remember going out to the fairgrounds back in the early 80’s for live music? Was that Yofest? I remember packing up the cooler and catching a shuttle from campus to the fairgrounds. It was a great day of hanging out with friends and partying.
