Two on none out; popped up a bunt and two K's. Frustrating.

Left two more stranded. Can't win if you keep leaving runs on base.

Josh Wilson has kept us alive but you can't win close games when you leave as many out there as we have this weekend.

App cut the lead to 1, down 4-3 but Furman lead off with a double and runner advanced to 3rd on groundout. 1 out in bottom 7

How many strikeouts this series? How many looking third strike?

Furman looks like a senior-laden "team of destiny" much like ASU last year.

Meanwhile, ASU is rebuilding. Need to get one back to stay near the top of the conference.

They do look very good, have to give them credit. However, we have shot ourselves in the foot this weekend as well. Some costly errors and in the neighborhood of 12-15 stranded runners in a pair of games we lost by 3 combined runs.

Long season, we just need to tighten up.

Some things of note. As noted, runners LOB, too,too many 3rd strikes looking, inability to bunt, ba.........d infield play, especially left side and catcher's position showing it's weakness. Passed balls and stolen bases. At least we have been close and basically gave games away. Looks like Springs didn't have stuff again. The games I saw with him pitching he has trouble locating his curve and his fastball comes in with no movement, right down Peachtree and pow. He really works too much into the count and I think this contributes to bad defense . to some extent, behind him. Some games it was a struggle for me as a fan to stay focused. Sorry South Point folks.

Certainly too many inopportune errors from the infield thus far. That said, I pin our loss yesterday and last Saturday against Davidson on Jones. Both materialized in the same manner. Wilson came on in Relief of Springs and pitched lights out until he started going through the line-up a second time. I was only watching live stats but it was obvious when he started to tire. He wasn't as crisp. 1-2 counts became 3-1 counts. He started hitting batters. In the Bottom of the 7th after we pulled within 1 run, Wilson gave up a lead-off double. At that point Jones should have pulled him. Instead he let Wilson unravel on the mound and 3 runs scored before putting Thurber in. A relief pitcher in a close game should never be put in that situation after they have done their job and then some for multiple innings already - he allowed us to get back in the game.

Same thing last weekend in the bottom of 9th with a 3-1 lead. Wilson had been in for 2+ in innings and starting to go through the line-up a second time.

Don't get me wrong, Wilson has pitched exceptionally well this year, but has not been handled well by the coaching staff in long relief situations. We have a full and capable bullpen that proved themselves last year. They are well rested with no midweek games this past week - I don't understand the reluctance to use them.

2-0 Apps, bottom 3. Crespo absolutely rifled a solo shot to left in the top half.

5-5, top of the 4th. After Furman put up 5 in the 3rd, Dobson ties it up with a 3-run shot off the scoreboard in right with 2 outs!

Is it me, or could Crespo use a week off from 2nd? He's good for about one error a game that turns into a big inning for the opponent.

Apps up 9-7 in the 8th, but trying to let it get away again. One run already in, runners on 1st and 3rd, only one out.
