I don’t ever see this being a revenue sport for us unfortunately. Mid-week home games will never be well attended in a town of 15k.YesAppCan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 5:03 pmA choice is upon DG... Either INVEST in Men's basketball program or be content with the program losing between $1 and $1.5 MILLION a year when it should be one that produces a good revenue stream... Then say "we can't afford it".... Folks, my opinion here, we can't afford NOT to invest in it.

Re: Fox fired
Somebody mentioned Scott Cross, the old UTA coach. I certainly think he’s worth an interview. Makes no sense why they let him go.
No matter who it is, I’m hoping & believing for a turnaround for the men’s BBall program. GO APPS!!

My number one choice. The only downside I see is that he might be waiting for the right job to emerge in Tejas being a native of that state.appstate24 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 5:30 pmSomebody mentioned Scott Cross, the old UTA coach. NCAA BBall money is all about making the dance. It’s the single biggest cash cow in college sports.

Re: Fox fired
We can talk all we want about getting a big name guy but we need to get the right guy. We don’t have a practice facility, we are two hours away from the closest airport and don’t charter or rarely charter from what I’ve heard, share an office with the women’s staff, I’m sure we have a low budget compared to other teams in the league, which means we pay low compared to the league as well, we should be compared to a SoCon or Big South conference program in comparison with all these facts, not a Sun Belt school. That is why it is so important to get the right guy not necessarily the biggest name guy. Someone who has experience with the same circumstances/ issues we have here.

I agree, but that doesn’t generate revenue.fjblair wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 5:45 pmIn winter...Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 5:29 pmI don’t ever see this being a revenue sport for us unfortunately. Re: Fox fired
If I remember correctly, Charlotte had to pay the remainder of Lutz's contract unless he took another Head Coaching job. By taking a job as an assistant, he was able to take the full buyout (and who can blame him).
If he was interested:
a. He's a man of character
b. He's coached in major college confences (Conference USA was a multi-bid league during his tenure + the ACC
c. His team's played an exciting style of basketball with multiple look defenses and high-scoring offenses.
d. His team's played well in big games

Re: Fox fired
Todd Fuller, played for Les Robinson. Journeyman NBA player. I saw him play against Maryland in’96? Reynolds Colesium.

I played against him in high school, or I should say " I sat at the end of the bench and watched my teammates play against him in high school."NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:30 pmTodd Fuller, played for Les Robinson. Re: Fox fired
UNLV just fired Marvin Menzies for some insane reason. I think they're eyeing Pitino.
I'll take him.

Re: Fox fired
I don’t see us getting a P5 coach on the rebound. Once you’ve flown first class it can be tough to swallow , unless maybe you see it as a stepping stone back. I think that was the situation with Tom Apke , who I believe is available.

Re: Fox fired
Attendance (especially students) can be bolstered by just 2 things. Play a decent non conference home schedule and win games. Football has proven that. I believe MANY people (myself included) are starved for a winning program. May be tough to do but once again I will say that we have done it in the past so why not again?

That's silly. It's a town of almost 20K not including students. About the size of Murray, KY.... and they pack the house.
