Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I don’t care about Buzz, Macmahon, The MEAC or Lutz. I do care about a coach who can work under pressure, run a clean program and sell the potential of App. Even when Maravich was terrible there were more butts in the seats than what we get today. I hate I live 2hrs away and can’t get to games.

You literally laid out the reasons why people would be worried about him being at HBCU. Has anyone else mentioned here stacked 3 tourney appearances? And 4 total? That’s my reasoning for saying he’s better qualified than most. I’d kinda like to see my school in the tourney, no? You’re getting angry and telling on yourself Mr. Seattle. Not a good look.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 10:34 amYep you got it. The board is inherently racist and doesn't want Moton because he's black. Wow. I was hoping this would be the one place I could escape lazy, convenient, ignorant, race baiting but I guess I was wrong. How is he better qualified than anyone else on the board? The MEAC is historically a very weak conference, thus the 16 seed play in game this year. And he's 18-15 in a weak conference this year. that's not exactly setting the world on fire and while I acknowledged he has had a couple great teams, he's had some very mediocre teams, maybe even this one. You gotta take the good with the bad, but thanks for making it about race.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 7:32 amI just think it’s pretty unfair to say “decent records in a terrible conference”. Did you see what NCCU was up to before Moton arrived? It’s not an easy job and he’s been in the NCAA tourney 3 years in a row and won his regular season conference 2 of the last 4 years. Again, i just don’t know who you think we’ll hire with a more qualified resume than Moton. And I’m not saying there aren’t other hires out there, but I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone mentioned on this thread who is better qualified than Moton. Seems most just have an issue with him being at an HBCU.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:28 pmCan someone please tell me why people are so high on moton? You “bud” brought the hbcu argument up. No one else. So don’t start back peddling now. Sorry I challenged your completely speculative and judgmental post. People said the meac was a weak conference, it is. No one said anything about hbcu EXCEPT you and people are well within their rights to take offense to that and tell you as such.

Re: Fox fired
Are you trolling? Yes there was mention of him only having coached at an HBCU. Take this one off man, idk why you’re so upset.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 5:22 pmYosef10 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 12:15 pmMe simply saying people seem to have a problem with him being at an HBCU has zero to do with race bud. Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
Last I heard, Blocker was working in law enforcement and he used to work App summer camp. But not sure if he has worked it in the summers since Capel and Fox have been coaches.

Per HoopDirt:
Early names at Appalachian State include Gardner-Webb head coach Tim Craft, Presbyterian head coach Dustin Kerns, and Campbell head coach Kevin McGeehan.

All of these are Big South coaches which is interesting. Tim Craft would be my vote of the three listed. I'm not entirely sure why Dustin Kerns is a candidate.
Be interested to see who else comes up.

Not sure what HoopDirt is - actual scoop or just taking names from message boards?appgrad2010 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:34 amPer HoopDirt:

I'm not sure it's all that "early" in the process either.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I figure the early names being listed in these sources are probably about as accurate as they were in the football search.

If we learned anything from the Football HC search it's to not trust any "sources"
