Lutz took Charlotte to the big dance 5 times coaching in a conference against hacks like Rick Pitino and Bob Huggins.

And Charlotte went straight downhill after Judy Rose mad the mistake of firing Lutz after a 19-12 season.

Hence why I said *rich man's* Fancher. Lutz has obviously had more success than that, if not quite a year-in, year-out winner.

I can’t believe there are people on this board who wouldn’t want Bobby Lutz. I have to assume some of alums don’t understand where App falls in the basketball pecking order. We are an afterthought in basketball. Getting a guy who has that much experience and has coached teams to that many tournaments would be incredible.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
We just need the decision makers to see it this clearly. Hiring Lutz says we are serious about basketball. The improvement will be immediate and attendance will follow.Boroneer10 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 11:35 pmI can’t believe there are people on this board who wouldn’t want Bobby Lutz. Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I have a feeling all the names talked about on here and in the media at this time are not going to happen. I think any leaked list at this time is a head fake to cover up the 2 guys Gillen is going after. Time will tell but the football hire was hidden from most peoples view. Maybe we need to turn the endzone cam and point it at Gillens office window and computer to get a real glance of candidates.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
Wow! I didn't know that.
Ok, I think DG has already identified his candidates. I don't think recent firings are going to influence his decision.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
FWIW, Jim Fox was never mentioned on hoop dirt or any other source for the month or so leading up to his hire, until the day before it was official...and that was with a not near as savvy AD in charge. Of course, that could have been due to other candidates backing out.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I agree, Greg. I watched G-W's game in the big dance. I was impressed with what he was able to do vs. Virginia and what he has accomplished at G-W. I am not saying that he is THE man for us, but if we do hire him, I think we will be fine.GregPercussion wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 8:03 amI'm still thinking Tim Craft from G-W is a top choice.

And then he'd be gone.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
At his age, perhaps not.
With each of the names mentioned as possible candidates, there are certain positive attributes that they bring. I think, given who we are and where we are at the moment, these are all fine candidates. And, who knows, perhaps there is a mystery candidate out there that will surprise us all. However, I don't think this will be a drawn out affair.
