Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
Last year, the Sun Belt released the MBB & WBB conference schedule on June 12th. Coach Elderkin released the women's out-of-conference schedule on July 30th, but Coach Fox didn't release the MBB out-of-conference schedule until more than five weeks later on Sept. 6th. Part (but not all) of the reason for the late men's schedule release was a late-developing opportunity to play in the Charleston Classic.

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
I know the women are hosting South Carolina this upcoming season. As in the SEC's Gamecocks.

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
Schedules are usually released in August/September. Most likely September for a first year coach who is trying to fill his schedule the rest o the way up. (Sometimes a coach on his way out won't care about the next year too much). I'd look for the women to announce first again. Also wouldn't be surprised to see ETSU on a MBB schedule soon since Kerns is from that area. ill advised though cause they're usually pretty solid.

False. It's one day earlier than last year's season opener against Mars Hill (Exhibition was Nov. 1). This time they're just a D1 team.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 1:25 pmPretty cool! Almost a full week earlier then last year.

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
Fair enough. But hey that's what you got when Jim Fox is the head coach and nobody makes him schedule a full D1 schedule. Glad to see that has changed and I'm excited for the scheduling this year to see what Kerns and Co. are able to construct.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 10:21 amI should've qualified D1 opener.BooneKarate wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 2:29 pmFalse. Re,: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
If we somehow survive a roady to Michigan to open the season, I understand that we have both EZU and UNC-Concord coming to HCC in the early season. That substantially beats last season's fare of Mars Hill, WSSU and Milligan.
The trip to Freedom Hall could get messy. Steve Forbes has his usual and customary roster of big-bodied seven-foot JuCos and P5 transfers plus a little AppState transfer named Patrick Good who literally grew up in Freedom Hall. Look for a lot of points to get scored in that one.

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
Schedule is now out on the website. Non-conference at least. Looks like at least one cupcake stayed on for this year somehow. Hope we get paid well to travel up to Michigan. Maybe they can put some of that into the advertising budget and get some fans to the home games. I'm sure it will go back to football somehow though.

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
DG knows that this hire appsolutely has to be a home run.
NEVER in the exactly 100 year history of App State MBB have the Apps and their fans suffered through eight (8) consecutive losing seasons...err...ugh...EXCEPT...for the last eight seasons...seasons #93 through #100.
How can students, fans and locals be blamed for showing up at HCC craftily disguised as empty seats? They can't.
During the 100 years (first century) of Mountaineer men's basketball the program's stats looked like this: 1,237 Wins, 1,152 Losses...with an overall 100 year winning percentage of .518
During the last eight seasons...2011-12 through 2018-19..the stats stack up like this: 93 Wins, 160 Losses...with an overall winning percentage during the eight (8) year slide of .368
Embarrassingly Unacceptable!
When the Apps take the floor in Michigan's Crisler Center on the evening of November 5th, 2019 they'll be kicking off the second century of Mountaineer basketball. Admittedly, that's a tough place to show your new coach what kind of heart you have for the game. Do it it anyway, Apps! #MAKE AN IMPACT!

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
Very interesting perspective Chuck.I hadn’t done the math but it’s been painful.Perhaps more so to folks like us who have been there when we cut down the nets.We know it can be done. I’ve said before that I believe the Sunbelt is there for the taking in basketball. No excuses not to make a run at it.

Re: 2019-2020 Schedule Question
There were quotes recently about how the system now is more simple than before. I would hope so as the previous regime seemed inflexible and rigid in what they wanted on the court.
Also, I'll take some genuine happiness and joy of playing basketball. The end of last season reminded me of the end of Darcie's reign in how much the players looked miserable when playing.
