Re: Fire Ted Roof
At this rate we need a whole offseason.

Re: Fire Ted Roof
defensive play was beyond excuse. In business, you should expect to be fired for such a display. It’s beyond me why people are defending this guy. Poor play and an absurd amount of penalties. Rip the band aid off and move on (easier said than done - I realize that).

Re: Fire Ted Roof
We gave up 52 to ULM just 2 seasons ago. At some point y’all will realize how big a piece Stout was for us and now we have a former walk on getting significant snaps there. Also replacing 2 corners who are now on NFL practice squads. This isn’t Alabama, you don’t reload at a place like App, you rebuild. You’re also ignoring the obvious strides UNCC has made under Healy. LeMay, Tucker, Reynolds, and the FR WR whose name is escaping me could all play here no doubt.
All that being said there are obviously things that need to be fixed, and the good news is we have 2 weeks to fix it. Roof wasn’t exactly a great hire in my eyes either when it happened but calling for the firing at this point is pretty silly, not to mention completely unrealistic. We’ll see what adjustments get made.

Re: Fire Ted Roof
For those that know more than I do, why was Roof hired? Was there a specific reason we targeted him? Looking at his coaching history, I don’t understand why. Genuinely curious.

Re: Fire Ted Roof
The roof leaketh everywhere. Lots of patching quick or replace the roof? There was a solid base with 7 returning starters and backups with quite a bit of experience. Offense will need 90 to win some of these upcoming games.

Re: Fire Ted Roof
So let’s look at the numbers. Charlotte rushed for 240 yards on 41 carries. If you take away Lemays 58 yard run and Fingers 68 yard run, we held them to under 3 yards a carry. I infer from this that we don’t have a scheme problem but missed assignments. To the point made on the lack of adjustments on the slants, fair point, but you can only do so much. The game plan was probably stop the run and see if Reynolds could beat them. He played well enough to do it, with some nice dimes and he took advantage of our inexperienced corners. As a coach, you pick your poison and hope it doesn’t kill you.

Re: Fire Ted Roof
He was a friend and coworker of Drinkwitz. That’s literally the only reason. He tried to make a comfy hire, and it may be the one that costs him his job if he doesn’t fix it or fire him.

Re: Fire Ted Roof
Drink hired him because his plate was full with OC, HC, and QB duties. He hired Roof because he wouldn’t need to be as hands on.

Yeah let’s take away 58 and a 68 yard run up the middle ! It looks good now what the hell kind of post is this?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 7:19 pmSo let’s look at the numbers. You know if you take away our losses to Penn State and GSU last season, we actually went undefeated.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 7:22 pmYeah let’s take away 58 and a 68 yard run up the middle ! Why are you taking any play or game loss away they happened ?!ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 7:24 pmYou know if you take away our losses to Penn State and GSU last season, we actually went undefeated.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 7:22 pmYeah let’s take away 58 and a 68 yard run up the middle ! Re: Fire Ted Roof
My point is that those runs were due to missed assignments. They count in the stats, but it shows that we had a decent game plan to stop the run. Two runs skewed the perception.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 7:22 pmYeah let’s take away 58 and a 68 yard run up the middle ! Re: Fire Ted Roof
Two long runs surely skewed the perception - on both sides ---
526 yards by Charlotte is awfully hard to write off as missed assignments - it could have also been because of being in the wrong alignment signaled in ---
Those who know me, know I am not in panic mode - As many have said before me, I will take an ugly win over a pretty loss every day of the week - I am SURE the players are not happy with their performance and I clearly believe this defense will bounce back - As someone mentioned earlier, maybe this is a serious wake-up call while still remaining undefeated ---

Re: Fire Ted Roof
I'd like to see how the defense bounces back after a performance like that. I think that will tell us everything we need to know come conference action time. Also, let's be realistic here, we lost too much talent and coaching to not take a step back, at least initially.
