Where do these guys think our students are from? And where do they think our alumni live? And for that matter, what do they thing the mountains are? Have they never been to Boone? Do they just flip through some old Snuffy Smith comics and watch Deliverance and then start typing away?
I’m embarrassed for them.

There were a few sentences that could have been a bit better written. Ed took a few digs at UNC-CH as well. If you cut through all the verbiage Ed did say we were the better team.appchicago wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 9:50 pmSame with most of these columns from Raleigh, Charlotte, etc.

Seriously dude? That entire article was a backhanded, uninformed, ill written piece of UNC propaganda! Freakin' Kim Jong Un couldn't have directed a worse misrepresentation of MY alma mater. And he gets paid to write this crap? He needs to get with Ethan and learn how to give fair, accurate, and honest coverage that comes from actually doing the research.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 10:28 pmThere were a few sentences that could have been a bit better written. Sammy Batten’s article in The Fayetteville Observer is much more complimentary.

Other than the two score mistakes, it was well written and accurate. Good job to Mr. Batten!

Maybe I am just used to his stuff which I rarely read. A lot of his stuff is written this way when I do read on occasion or skim his articles. Ethan I do read. The Raleigh paper was much better and I thought about sending him a link to Ed to show the difference in style.Appster99 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 10:36 pmSeriously dude? Re: Greensboro sports page 19 Sept 2019
I'm just glad we were able to finally compose ourselves and act like we've been there before. What a joke of an article. The only reason we didn't sack Howell more than three times was because of the RIDICULOUS amount of holding UNC was allowed to get away with. I'm not talking about the ticky tack holding you can call every play, I'm talking about Nick Hampton being held around his neck area after he clearly beat the OLine, I'm talking about all the other times our guys were crashing down on the QB only to be blatantly held in front of the officials with no flags. I promised myself not to say it yesterday win or lose but damn it was frustrating to watch. Also don't get me started on ADG getting an unsportsmanlike flag bc a UNC player tried to run through his back after the play was over, bush league at best.

Not really. He spent most of the time comparing the win yesterday to Michigan. A game that was supposed to be so lopsided there wasn’t a betting line published vs a pickem game? What a tool.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 10:28 pmThere were a few sentences that could have been a bit better written. Ed took a few digs at UNC-CH as well. I thought that was a good article and gave us lots of respect. But then again, not living in NC and not knowing this writer, I don't have any bias towards the author. He clearly said we were the better team and the better program, that is better recognition than most tar heels will give.

Re: Greensboro sports page 19 Sept 2019
The News & Observer and Charlotte Observer had a pair of good articles about us.
I’m just annoyed about how some outlets are making it out to be an upset which was decided by a blocked pass when we lead the game the entire time and at some points by three scores.
A more accurate account would be to say that App State held off a late game resurgence by UNC to secure in-state supremacy.

Re: Greensboro sports page 19 Sept 2019
When I was walking out of the game a UNC fan asked how long it would take to drive to Boone from Chapel Hill. They live in their own little world. Listened to the UNC radio show after the game. It was awful. According to them the only reason we won was because we played on emotion and we couldn’t do that again. Some comments about Zach, “can’t run, game manager”, and by the end of the show, “can’t play”. They said we couldn’t beat any other team in the coastal division of the ACC. They said we wouldn’t play at the same level against any other ACC teams. They also said that it was a great game environment. It was ok but far from great. Very little noise for the home team and tons of empty seats. If they didn’t have blue seats it would have looked bad. I was asking myself, do these guys not go to places like Clemson, VT or Georgia and see what a “great” game environment looks like? The arrogance was hard to understand. You just got beat by a team you obviously have no respect for and you continue to say how bad they are. I do have to say, the UNC fans treated us fine and had nothing to say after the game.

Re: Greensboro sports page 19 Sept 2019
Occasionally the Greensboro paper will publish a sports editorial. I had an editorial published within the last 30 days so I can't be published again for a week or so if they use the same 30 day count for any editorial, be it general news editorials or a sports editorial.
Someone needs to write something and see if they will publish it in the sports section and call Ed out for his writing and how it compares to the Charlotte, Raleigh, and Fayetteville papers. Ed did twice state App had a better football program, but it was crouched in a way that was much different that the other paper's articles.
I would not expect a hometown paper (in this case I think Chapel Hill is mostly served by a branch of the Raleigh paper) to be overly fair, but the Greensboro paper is in a neutral city as it relates to UNC-CH and App.
The color pics were nice in the Greensboro paper, and it was at the very top of the front page, so the result could be read in a newstand rack.

The holding was egregious on tv as well. The holes moved the ball on the ground well but had absolutely no pass protection unless they tackled our DLine.NavyApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 6:43 amI'm just glad we were able to finally compose ourselves and act like we've been there before. Also that BS pass interference call still angers me. It extended their drive and resulted in that TD right at the end of the half. It was fantastic defense from our DB.

No, that's a little extra mustard from me, being facetious or sarcastic, which I am a lot, is hard to imply typing.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 1:51 pmYou freely assume that they are all from NC?Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 1:49 pmAll the ref bs references, they were ScumBelt refs, who probably grew up Hole fans.
