The 51st Boyles Distinguished CEO Lecture will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 2 p.m. in the Holmes Convocation Center.

The CEO of BB&T is speaking in the HCC today as part of the COB lecture series.

There doesn't appear to be any function related to the announcement other than the locked door press conference.

Seems strange that employees ALWAYS receive an e-mail notice re: parking whenever there is anything going on in the HCC that requires them to block off parking spaces. There was NOTHING about this! We didn't know a thing until we all arrived for work and couldn't find a place to park.

I think that is pretty cool. Of course, I'd love for us to be bowl eligible but having the chance to play for a conference championship in 2014 is great! Said it will be hosted by the school with the best record.

They kept referring to a "school to be named later". Could be good for us. ;)

Benson also said they should be at 12 either later today or within a few days at the latest.

No, I'm not suspicious. Board members could be meeting at Dr Peacocks office in the JET. They could be meeting before Kelly King speaks. Why is everything a conspiracy these days?

Can't make it up the mountain today, so at 4:01 I guess I will rush the driveway, tear down the mailbox, carry it behind the house, and dump it into the creek.

GO APP!

I agree, they should broadcast it on the scoreboard at HCC, open it to the public, open the concessions, market it, make an event out of it. This is big.

Just hard to believe that between the Turchin Center, Legends, etc they couldn't find a place to schedule a meeting. The team can't stop practice or reschedule for half a day? I can see how that's real time critical, I've never, ever heard in my life that a practice was rescheduled... the horror! Yeah and I have a bridge on Grandfathers mountain to sell you.

Doesn't have anything to do with a conspiracy...it's just par for the course.

I have to be honest here, I'm surprised that this is an issue. I never expected that the announcement, the supposed CUSA move or any FBS move, would have taken place at the HCC with thousands of people attending. I've never seen it done that way before by any other similarly situated school.

Upon further review...
This may have been done to show off the press-type bells and whistles of the Athletics Center. It is also a great opportunity to show the rest of the "world", through the press, that Appalachian State is 1st class with their amenities/facilities.

You wouldn't be suspicious if you paid closer attention to what is posted.

The 51st Boyles Distinguished CEO Lecture will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 2 p.m. in the Holmes Convocation Center. The featured speaker will be BB&T CEO Kelly King. The event is free and open to the public.

App State made the right move by making this a private thing. Though I wish I could see the announcement made in person, I also understand their reasoning behind making it private. They know that this is going to make national news... they don't want a bunch of yelling fans taking away from the announcement, and they also want to make it look like we are a classy school. GoASU.com will be okay. I am sure that they have prepared their servers for this monumental occasion.

HCC would have been nice, but I am ready to see App State show off its world class facilities by giving the press topnotch technology. Should be an interesting thing to see, and I am very excited for what the future holds.

I don't know how many attended but it was "standing room only" and a few minutes after they had this professional looking web page ready for fans to keep up with "The Journey" as they call it.

And haters will continue to hate. Believe what you will but every possible option to have this open for the fans was considered. Only a few building on campus are equipped to support broadcasting an event like this. I seriously doubt we want to use an art gallery or a beat up dance hall as the backdrop for showcasing our athletics program to a new conference and the world. Use some common sense man and stop your whining. I'm disappointed I can't be there, but it is far more important to make a positive impression for ASU than making some half-ass arrangements just so you can be there.

If you want to be upset over something how about Cobb not showing up for the ring ceremony Saturday night and ducking out of the football recruiting gathering in Raleigh after 10 minutes so he and his son could attend the NC State vs Duke basketball game.

We got it, you want to continue complaining.

I didn't mention GSU's announcement, but since you did...if you saw the wide-angle shots of the GSU presser, there weren't hundreds of people there (certainly not thousands)--standing room only or not. And, it certainly wasn't held at the basketball arena. Seeing as this is primarily a football move, I'm not sure it would make sense being at the HCC anyways.

ECU applied to the Big East, what...30 times? They didn't hold their announcement at their basketball arena. I just don't see where there's a controversy.

Not worried at all about that. He's a father. Sounds like he's being a good dad to me.

Just stating an opinion doesn't make one a hater and if there had been any noticeable effort made to keep fans up to date of the whole process, I wouldn't even mention it, however it's the "half-ass arrangements" that's concern me. I'm sure they just didn't find out 8:00 Monday morning that this was a go, because GSU announced their meeting Monday morning. Our meeting was only set after it came out from the W-SJ. To me, there was a lot of "half-ass" scrambling Monday to come up with a plan. And that's my whole complaint, that everything out of the AD's office is "half-ass". If we're going to get everyone behind this move and muster up all the support we can, we better not take everything for granted and make every move a day late and a dollar short.

Let's face it the AD's office didn't make us a football legend, everything for that was put in place long before the got here. He's been here what 7 years?

I don't have it out for any of them, I hope the AD's office is more than up to the job. I have just seen more failures then successes. Now hopefully we have a great success here in front of us and I don't want to see someone that can't even make it to the ring ceremony or recruiting gathering screw it up. Everyone else can just be a lemming and say "everything just great", "we don't need to know anything", "they'll tell us what we need to know" if they want to, that's their right. It's my right to say however that, if someone can't handle the big move we're about the take they better be thinking of getting someone they can. If anyone don't want to read it then don't. The top of the post has my name on it and I think it's clear where I am coming from. Hate as nothing to do with it, no more than having ones head up someone's behind does. To me, some see it as "all well, everything prefect", but my take is a little different. I see some record of fumbling and it concerns me. period. About the ring and recruiting deal, I think both show the about of effort and responsibility we should expect.

And as Forrest Gump said, "and that's all i have to say about that"
