Not saying that I really “care” if we open it up or not, more that it seems like we have way more in the tank than we’ve shown. Seems rudimentary with all the talent we have on that side of the ball.nomadb wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 1:17 pmULL has a good offense. If we are winning, it plays to our advantage to keep their offense off the field. Especially if we are moving the ball. I simply don't understand the desire of some fans to see us "open up the playbook" or whatever each time we get the ball. There is more strategy to winning a game than that.
That being said, it's going to be a fun day when our offense is hitting on all cylinders and our defense is playing as well as they did last night. That will be lots of points earned and few given up and, god willing, that will be against USC. (and GaSo)
Our offense has been extremely simple/predictable and that’s where my “mastermind” thought came from. Maybe mastermind was a poor choice of words but I find it hard to believe our offense will continue to be this vanilla if/when we ever get behind. I’m impressed he’s stuck to his script in close games with a small lead the way he has. It certainly seems like he’s had way more confidence in our defense all year than I have had until now, which is a good thing.
Also, it doesn’t matter at all to me how vanilla it looks as long as we keep scoring more than our opponents. Keep winning and I’ll keep calling Drink a mastermind haha!
