Top 25 / NY6 contender Games to follow this week...
Games 2 follow

MIA > UVA (20)
COLO > ORE (13)
TEM > * MEM (23)
WSU > ASU (18)
HOU > * CIN (25)
TTU > BAY (22)
LOU > WAKE (19)
ORST > UTAH (15)
HAW> * BSU (14)
We need a few of these to go our way to be ranked. Let’s face it, it was a nice win this week by App. However that win isn’t enough to get us ranked.
I think the NY6 influenced games are going to be good ones to follow this weekend. I think Temple and Hawai’i could potentially pull out the upsets, maybe even Houston. Which would greatly help App State’s NY6 narrative.
Also, Satterfield is doing some great things over in Louisville. He’s gaining a lot of trust and respect from the fans and his team. Don’t be surprised if he pulls out the W.
The Colorado vs Oregon game may be interesting too. Colorado has pulled out two wins against teams that are currently ranked and their only 2 losses were not by much.

Other games that may affect our chances of being ranked. (I'm using AP others receiving votes for the rankings)
#29 Washington (4-2) at #33 Arizona (4-1) - I fear either winner may leapfrog us.
#8 Wisconsin (5-0) > #32 Michigan St (4-2)- An MSU win would put them back in the polls
Ole Miss (3-3) > #27 Missouri (4-1) - A Missouri win puts them in ahead of us.
Nebraska (4-2) > #26 Minnesota (5-0) - We need Minnesota to lose.

I think Hawaii will run the table vs Boise State, as they have an insanely explosive offense to do so. Also, do not count out the Miami Hurricanes, as they have had a rough start to the season. However, they stuck Perry in at QB vs VT and he brought them back from a 4 TD deficit and threw for 420 yards. He gets the start vs UVA, so this could be another potential "break" for us and our ranking. Minnesota will for sure get in before us and rightfully so, but those 2 games mentioned above would hold enough weight for us to slip in at least a 25 spot. Texas Tech is so streaky and Baylor is proven to be a top 15 team on both sides of the ball, so do not expect much there. Also, Washington State has absolutely no defense and Houston without King at QB isn't a likely positive either. However, this MIami game and Hawaii game will be huge for us I believe!

Yea these are definitely games to be following as well. The one that concerns me the most is the Mich State game.97APP wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 12:41 pmOther games that may affect our chances of being ranked. (I'm using AP others receiving votes for the rankings)

If Minnesota and Missouri both win we can still potentially slide up with them if we get 3 or more upsets out of the list I posted. Obviously looking for L’s out of both of them too though.
It’s such a shit show. You never know how the polls are going favor the teams beating the ranked teams.
I do know one thing... we need some shake ups... a win against Ull as good as they are does nothing for us getting ranked.

Navy (3-1) is at Tulsa (2-3). A win for Navy probably gains them a few votes as well.

Maybe I am overlooking it or we are taking for granted a win by #1 Alabama over #24 TS A&M. I rarely ever pull for Alabama but I will be this weekend.

Definitely not counting out Miami... I watched that game and I was impressed with the comeback that Perry led.DROCKUS11 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 12:47 pmI think Hawaii will run the table vs Boise State, as they have an insanely explosive offense to do so. Another game that is just pure hope for me. I would love to see the Gamecocks somehow pull out a W against UGA. I know, I’m just dreaming, but damn that would be nice for the Gamecocks to somehow pull out a big upset before we have the opportunity to notch a W against them. That would really look good for NY6 talk!
I think this week has some good games that can potentially help the Neers get ranked!

I just don’t see that loss really affecting A&M’s position. Maybe I’m wrong but A&M gets more credit than deserved imo. I feel they are in that position with the voters already foreseeing a loss. Hopefully I’m wrong.AtlantaMountaineer wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 2:57 pmMaybe I am overlooking it or we are taking for granted a win by #1 Alabama over #24 TS A&M. The only team we need to worry about is Boise State or whoever comes out on top in AAC.Gratefulneer wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 10:20 amGames 2 follow

Give it about 3 more weeks and there will only be about 2 G5 teams for us to worry about, assuming Boise State is still undefeated.

You're definitely right about that! Hawai'i look to definitely have some horses this year...hopefully enough to tame the Broncos (see what I did there? - Ha!) That having been said, and short of completely demolishing BSU, I just don't see them being a candidate to leapfrog us. Either way, fingers crossed for a Rainbow win. I just wish the game was on the island and not on the smurf turf, as I'd feel a lot better about it.

Here's to hoping SC take a few more key injuries before we get there.

We just need to win every week. The only poll that will matter for the NY6 will be the playoff committee rankings. AP and Coaches poll are just fodder.

Exactly. Plus, a lot of these teams in the discussion now will lose this month.
One thing we have to keep in mind, which is a big reason why I don't like the polls, is that the CFP is often way off on a few teams. We could be 17 and 2nd G5 in the polls but then be the 3rd G5 and 24 in the CFP. We honestly don't know for sure where we stand until November.

A win over a hobbled SC team won't impress voters. I think we can beat them at full strength. We have the talent to not be afraid of their "4 star" players.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 3:47 pmHere's to hoping SC take a few more key injuries before we get there.

Very true. The AP and Coaches polls are to get the App State name out there for the CFB Playoff Poll voters.
The AP and Coaches polls matter for publicity and recruiting only.

Feel dirty currently pulling for Miami. Up 7-0 almost halftime.
And I jinx Miami. First and goal for Virginia with 26 seconds left in the half.
