Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
I never watched many of Satterfield's press conferences, so I have no real measure of comparison. However, I will say that Drink has the "coach speak" down pat. If he weren't a head football coach, he could be a motivational speaker and make a good living doing it. He also seems like the kind of person who I'd trust leading my child as they grow into adulthood.

Looks like he didn't shift the logo to the camera this time.
I really love the fact when the coaches and players talk about their opponents, it comes from a place of respect. It never feels forced.

After we’re up 40. We must destroy what Sunbelt teams we can since the conference is looked down upon. Style points count. Just ask Clemson.

Spoken like a fan. IF we go undefeated, the only things that will matter to the committee are the quality wins. A margin of victory to a spread isn’t going to matter.Apptrain wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 12:56 pmAfter we’re up 40. We must destroy what Sunbelt teams we can since the conference is looked down upon. Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
I refuse to believe this is sheer ignorance. And if I were a coach preparing to play App, especially an in-conference coach, I don't believe I'd want to poke the bear unnecessarily.
I won't mind if we see Huesman throwing downfield in the 4th while up 60 (good lord willing).

Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
I seriously doubt the USA coach is doing that because he thinks that helps their cause. Why would a coach purposefully mispronounce the opponent's name?
I'm not suggesting we lose this game but I seriously doubt Wisconsin fans thought there was any chance Illinois would potentially ruin their season. We may see a repeat performance of this past weekend but the result is what matters not the margin of victory or the point total.

Hope we take them to the woodshed. No Coach should mispronounce any opponent in a press conference. I really dislike SoAl now.

Didn't he do this last year, too? Then we beat them almost exactly how we beat ULM.

So it’s funny when Satt did it, South Al and Arky St, but disrespectful when someone does it to us?

The mispronunciation of Appalachian is just a regional thing, but "Appy State" is belittling. Pour it on 'em!

Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
This weekend is a normal turnaround. Full week. Next week will be short with the Thursday night game at GSAppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 12:06 pmGiven that we have a short turnaround this week and it is the middle of a three games in 13 days, I would expect to see some grind it out drives to keep the defense off the field. Assuming that we have a large lead after half, I could see a large dose of Huesman, Anderson, and Clark in the second half. That is of course assuming we can get a large lead. My point is that while I can see a 48-7 type score, I can also envision a scenario where it ends up a 38-14 type game. Score and margin of victory is far less of a concern to me than getting in and out with some guys getting reps so the starters can sit.

Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
No offense to the guys trying t9 downplay the game...but in the CFP voters’ minds, we need to beat the brakes off SoAla. We need to leave tread marks on them that they won’t forget two years from now. How we perform as a ranked team moving forward will absolutely impact our program. The players need to worry about just winning, us fans need to talk about how we can get them hype, call in local radio shows, donate more to Yosef Club, and generate more hype around the program. All of this matters,
The Appalachian State

For the CBS Sports College Football Power Rankings (which have App St at #23):
The Mountaineers took to being ranked well with a 52-7 bludgeoning of Louisiana-Monroe. Off this week before facing Georgia Southern on Thursday, but a game at South Carolina on Nov. 9 could be huge.

Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
South Alabama is 1-6, #174 in the Sagarin Ratings and is rated below 46 FCS teams in that ranking. Against Georgia Southern they took a 14-10 lead deep into the fourth quarter, despite the fact that they did not have a single drive that lasted more than 3 plays until under 7 minutes were left in the game (they hit two bombs). Their lone win came against FCS Jackson State, which is #246 in the Sagarin Ratings.
Troy did not punt the football once against them this week.
You are correct, this could be a tough game to get up for.

Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL
Dont know guys. This team just seems to be focused, with a killer instinct that we were exposed to on saturday. I think we murder USA in the first half, and our reserves keep scoring. Drink is out for a statement about his teams focus.
