Good luck finding 150 seats together.
Just presenting the facts: There are 150+ seats available in 6 to 8 sections in the upper decks on both sides and the end zone. Section 509 is a virtual ghost town at this point.

Not the ideal place to seat a band, but it's not logistically impossible.

And for anyone looking for tickets: Unsold uppers are $45 plus fees straight from the Gamecocks/Ticket Master
}
Positive post. Yes there are enough seats .

It’s also worth mentioning that unless you are marching during halftime there is not much of a reason to shell out for the whole band to go.

Quick question, other than myself and gregpercussion how many bod alum are in this board?

I’m one. I agree that a pep band is fine.

The money is "there" for the whole band to go, but things are tight. If we pay for the whole band to go, money comes away from something else. Athletics pays a part and the band pays a part... so when it comes to sending the full band it's a discussion of who's gonna pay.

Things like bowl games and now possible "away" conference championship games take the priority for funding for a whole band.
In the past few years we've sent a pep band down to The Stink GS, so I think the funding is there to do the pep band. But to send the whole band, as I said, normally means taking money away from something else.

As far as where to seat they band: they have a place for visiting bands that's normally reserved for such things, and normally those tickets aren't sold except to the visiting school or maybe GA depending on the school.

Thanks for the info. I guess my thoughts are, support this with a message to the AD if you’d like, if not, then don’t. I appreciate everyone’s legitimate responses, but it’s the AD’s decision, not ours. And that decision may very fall in line with what some of you have said. Showing support for the band to support the team is useful. Again, if you don’t want to jump on this “band”wagon I understand. Lol

I was at Columbia for the Apps game in the late 70s. You could hear the BoD approaching from a mile away! It sounded like a Roman legion was preparing to invade. It got even better when they entered the stadium. Then, sadly, the game had to begin. Send the whole band!

I was under the impression the BOD was going to USC. I spoke with a band member back in August before the season began and asked if they were going to UNC. He told me the BOD would not be going to UNC but would be at the USC game. I didn't specify if it was just a pep band or the entire BOD. Based on his response, I guess I just assumed the whole band would be traveling. Either way, I hope we get to hear them a lot next Saturday in Columbia (and of course this Thursday).

Gave up 24 points, 34 last year. Get better at trolling. Although it looked like it early on, defense wasn’t the issue last night.

No trolling here just responding to your original post.. I don’t know what game you watched but we were bad on both sides but f the ball. The defense did tighten up too little too late. First three quarters were hard to watch.

Again, 24 points. Not saying it was an 85 bears performance but you came back to gloat after 24 points.

Maybe pep band is the answer. GS pep band played more than BOD last night.

The GS band was facing the West/Home side so it'll always sound louder than when ours faces East/Away. Just band physics, but I agree that ours hardly played.
