I don't know. For a team that has never played a game I don't see that as so weak. There are teams in that schedule that we play or have played and we have been around a long time.

Interesting fact is that their law school is not on campus in Harnett County anymore it was moved to Raleigh a few years agoJCline0429 wrote:One thing I envy is that Campbell has a law school and we3rd wrote:Do yall understand Campbell is almost at the level of Liberty? and im not talking about the football team

Having a lower tier law school isn't much to be proud of. There are other prof schools that would benefit ASU much more in both the short the and long term. Sure, there is expanded earning potential from alumni, but not nearly what you would expect.JCline0429 wrote:One thing I envy is that Campbell has a law school and we3rd wrote:Do yall understand Campbell is almost at the level of Liberty? and im not talking about the football team

Campbell's Norman Adrian Wiggins SOL is an excellent law school. Not as prestigious as Duke/UNC/Wake obviously, but much more renowned than Elon or Charlotte Law (as far as NC law schools go). They've been around a while and have a large alumni pool. I wouldn't call it lower tier.BeauFoster wrote:Having a lower tier law school isn't much to be proud of. The general consensus would likley rank NC law schools as follows:
Duke
UNC
Wake
Campbell
NCCU
Elon
Charlotte SOL
And yes there are too many law schools in this state.

Re: Comparison: ASU & UNCC Football Programs
Of your list, the first 3 are considered "top-tier"...none of the rest would garner that designation. Can one get a job with a JD from Campbell? Sure, but it's still a tier 3/4 school. There's nothing wrong with that designation, but the median income for a Wiggins grad is ~$52k. I'd wager a guess that our CPA program has a similar or higher initial median income.Gonzo wrote: Campbell's Norman Adrian Wiggins SOL is an excellent law school. Campbell's Pharma school, on the other hand, does make me jealous. That program, in Boone, would benefit the University and region.

Fair enough, but you said "lower tier law school isn't much to be proud of" and it seemed like a bit of an exaggeration. Personally I'd rather go to NCCU SOLBeauFoster wrote:Of your list, the first 3 are considered "top-tier"...none of the rest would garner that designation. Can one get a job with a JD from Campbell? While APP had several schools to be proud of (insert your own school here) it was notably behind in Medical and Law. The nursing program is certainly a positive improvement, but it should really press for more in that area, not just for revenue, prestige, etc but for the region as well.BeauFoster wrote: Of your list, the first 3 are considered "top-tier"...none of the rest would garner that designation. Law not only adds prestige but I would be a huge money maker as well. It doesn't need the labs etc that are required for the medical training.
It's hard to base anything on median income of grad's. An accountant at $52, is near the top of average salary range ($61k) while a lawyer at $52k has plenty of room for growth ($112k). I do agree however that APP's CPS school has been one of the best in the country for years. It's grad's are always some of the top scoring on the CPA exam.

Re: Comparison: ASU & UNCC Football Programs
I'm all for adding professional schools in Boone, and I believe that they would open up a previously untapped monetary resource for the school, but Law would be the last on the list, IMO. For one, a law school is only prestigious if the degree is of pedigree - that takes many many years to earn (not saying it couldn't be done). Also, with the sheer number of JD programs in NC at this time, adding another would further dilute the field. Not to mention that something like 18% of new grads don't find work within 12 months, meaning we won't see an immediate realization of $'s (many lower ranked schools are struggling to place 50% of their grads - regardless of bar status). All in all, I don't think a Law School fits in Boone. There are numerous programs that do, however, and I'm confident that CPeacock is doing his all to get those wheels turning.Maddog1956 wrote: While APP had several schools to be proud of (insert your own school here) it was notably behind in Medical and Law. That's not necessarily true.
