Week 11 TV ratings

App v USCar drew a .41 rating with 739k viewers ranking 13th in viewership this past weekend on ESPN2 while going up against:

ISU v OU (8pm FOX)
CU v NCSU (7:30 ABC)
MIZ v UGA (7:00 ESPN)

It must be rocket science, but how in they heck do they tell how many watched?

Back in my day... :lol: Nielsen would install a box that would send them data to see what households were watching. You would input the number of people watching and their ages and update it after x period of time throughout the day. I had one of these boxes in my apartment my sophomore year back in 99/00. Think I represented roughly 30k viewers at the time. I remember having to input the information while watching the Titans vs Rams "2 yards short" Superbowl.

I'd guess the new cable/satellite boxes are able to communicate this type of information and be much more accurate than they were 2 decades ago but I have no firsthand working knowledge of how they do get the info now.
