Drink interviews w/ Ark
Saw this on Arkansas thread, and also heard from a reliable source that Drink had a face to face interview with Ark. AD. Just posting the info and screen shot. This is a plane track from Ark. to North Wilkesboro (Drink) to Boca (Kiffin) and Idaho (Leech). Just thought I would share.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Drink is the least experienced of your list, so maybe we can keep him one more year. Arkansas has endless money, but it'll be one hell of a tall order to get back to winning status and stay there.

Was thought that at App actually. You never pass up an opportunity to interview, even if you don't think you want the job or will get the job. Practice make perfect.

Completely agree, It is a dream job for him, home, lots of cash and the big stage. Don't think he gets it but also don't think he turns it down if they offer.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Despite Drink's lack of experience, he knows how to talk with conviction. There is no reason to think he won't succeed with his own recruits here and won't be able to build up a program at Arkansas. I think it would be shortsighted to hire someone over Drink simply because he lacks experience.beachneer40 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:14 pmCompletely agree, It is a dream job for him, home, lots of cash and the big stage. Arkansas backers also appear to want to hire one of their own and Drink is from Kansas/Arkansas. That alone would qualify him in the eyes of donors which is ultimately who makes the decisions here.

Drink's connections to Arkansas scare me, they definitely want someone with connections to the area. I'd say Kiffin is the favorite and then its Drink.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
If Drink was at risk for leaving, really, wouldn't Gillin extend him and add an App friendly buy out? With the programs likely to poach Drink, the least they could do is pay for App to increase the pay of their next coach (tongue in cheek). Louisville got off easy on taking Satterfield while under contract. A P5 program with pockets as deep as Arkansas' should be able to pony up a rather substantial buy out.
Or does the buy out have to be commiserate with the base pay?

Actually, Drink is not viewed as one of their own. In Arkansas, you are either a Hog or you aren’t and Drink is not. Check out their message boards on 24/7. They don’t view him as one of them.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:18 pmDespite Drink's lack of experience, he knows how to talk with conviction. I have a feeling that could change once they hear him speak. App fans weren't keen on him either after wanting an insider hired for the job. App fans weren't keen on Roof.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:41 pmActually, Drink is not viewed as one of their own. In Arkansas, you are either a Hog or you aren’t and Drink is not. See where that got us. Exactly where many expected a Satterfield coached 2019 team would get us.
Apparently there have been several flights to and from Boca originating around the Arkansas area. Most Hawg fans are convinced it's Kiffin. I tend to believe them. Apparently Arkansas had an in home meeting with Kiffin as well; this according to some FAU Football Podcast.

The amount had to be negotiated, approved by the BOT and written into the terms of the App contract before Drink was hired.

I don't care if he goes or not. I like Drink but if they offer congrats and see you. I don't mind coaches coming and leaving after a few years but our next HC could see the same result next year and then bolt if we hire another like Drink. I say hire Shawn Clark immediately. He will stay for a while and I know Shawn can run the show.beachneer40 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 12:56 pmSaw this on Arkansas thread, and also heard from a reliable source that Drink had a face to face interview with Ark. Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Good for coach. I'm glad he's been able to put himself in a position to interview for bigger salaries, and has kept App on the national map. If he were to be offered and accept this job (or most any other), I'll thank him for his time and wish him good luck (unless the new team is playing App or there is a game that could directly impact our chances at an NY6 bowl).
I certainly won't take it personally when he does leave.

Why not explore bringing Bryan Brown back, if that's the case.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:45 pmI don't care if he goes or not. I like Drink but if they offer congrats and see you. Hopefully we all should be concerned about that, players, potential recruits, fans, and administration. Perhaps Coach Drinkwitzis just jockeying for more salary and benefits from us. Coach Satterfield was thought to do that on occasion.
