Oh I know it won't happen but with our commitment to football look at what we do. We have beat Big Ten, ACC, and SEC teams with the cash flow we have now as a G5/FCS team over the years. Give us equal money to South Carolina and UNC, among others, and the same conference, and we would own them year in and year out.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:51 pmI mean, that's never going to happen.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:47 pmExactly. We don't have quite that much depth yet. We need about 10 more P5 stud caliber players, more size, and more depth on the lines before we can think anything more than 8-4 is realistic right now. A team that is 20-25 is about 8-4 in a good P5 conference and that is exactly what I think we would be. 8-4 or maybe 7-5 depending on our OOC. Give us 4 years recruiting at the P5 level though and I have no doubt we could win 9-10 games in the ACC.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:41 pmThat's what makes the P5 games fun. You can match-up on any given Saturday. However depth in a season long schedule in a P5 conference, even the ACC, would be lacking currently.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:37 pmYou do realize if we were in the ACC we would probably be a 8-4 team, 9-3 at best. It would not shock me if we were 7-5 depending on which teams we had in the ACC. We are a good team but the only games I think we could win for sure are GT, Duke, UNC, BC, Syracuse, and NC State. We would definitely lose to Clemson and the other games are 50/50 to me. I am pretty sure the ball would not bounce our way in one or two of them as well.MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:02 pmWe are too good for the Belk Bowl. It is for 4 and 5 loss teams. We are better than every ACC team except Clemson, so no thank you. We'll be waiting in New Orleans for whomever they care to send us, most likely a 3rd place CUSA team because the top two are scared to death of us.
We can't be arrogant because 11-1 or 10-2 in the SBC is not a guarantee. If we can lose to Georgia Southern then we could lose to half of the ACC for sure.
North Dakota State is the most dominant program in FCS history and I would even tell them that they would lose a couple games in the MAC, as bad as it is. Unless you have a roster full of those caliber guys, along with depth, then it won't happen. We have P5 talent but we don't have 35 guys who could start at most ACC schools. We need about 3 more Davis-Gaither, Demetrius Taylor, Shaun Jolly, Evans, Thomas, Sutton, etc caliber players on each side of the ball before we should think we could roll the entire ACC but Clemson.
Plus Florida State, Louisville, and Virginia Tech will likely be back to their old ways soon.
But if it did, it sure would be interesting to see what that extra cash flow could do for App. At this point it'd be interesting to see what the additional cash flow from the AAC deal would do for App.

Would give them leverage. I can't think of a single team in C-USA that would bring half the number of fans as App would. GS would likely bring 12,000 or so as well. It works well as a secondary tie-in when compared to C-USA, for sure.
You also wouldn't have to drive 20-hour round trips, it seems. Though with three young kids, if I could get permission, I'd gladly take the solitude 20 hours of driving could provide.![]()
If App ever goes to the Cure Bowl, I promised my wife we can make a family trip of it and do a theme park or two. But yeah, still hoping for NOLA.
Sounds like you made some memories for at least the 9 year old that he won't soon forget. Kudos on tying it into football!

God Bless you man. I’ve been happily married for 13 years. On Saturday, she wanted to get some Christmas stuff for the house, but she knew a lot of good rivalry games were on, so she got me out early and made sure we were home for the OSU v Mich game and the Iron Bowl.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 11:36 pmBe sure to do whatever it takes to keep her around then. If the Belk Bowl wanted us and the SunBelt didn't allow it, the commissioner should be fired immediately. Aren't the payouts split between all conference members?AppState89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 1:14 amBelk Bowl Charlotte, NC $4,505,556 <-----------

For the SunBelt bowls yes. This is all hypothetical to begin with, so not sure how it would work with splitting from the Belk bowl. But I would think they other SB would get some sort of cut.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:43 amIf the Belk Bowl wanted us and the SunBelt didn't allow it, the commissioner should be fired immediately. Re: Belk Bowl?
There is the cost, you subsidize the NOLA payout with the additional money from NOLA, hope Louisiana and Louisiana Tech will agree to play each other there. The administration of Louisiana Tech probably wouldn't like it but it looks like Louisiana fans are rearing at the bit to take their best team in school history and knocking Ruston down a peg (as if it needed any help).BeauFoster wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 9:14 amThey'd probably demand $3.5mil out of it for all the paperwork.GregPercussion wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 9:12 amFor the SunBelt bowls yes. I think Louisiana v. Louisiana Tech would make for compelling TV and the bowl atmosphere would be great to see on TV. However, if there is no shot of App making it to Belk, NOLA is the goal because it means Conference Championship.

Re: Belk Bowl?
A huge part of the bowls is the reward for the players. They get to go somewhere, hang out, take in the local stuff and get cool swag. I would think that most of them would prefer going south like to warm Florida or even out west somewhere. Of course we have substantiated how much better the Belk Bowl would be in regards to possible opponent, increased number of App fans who would be in attendance, better television exposure, recruiting and a large payout but would that locale be that great for the players? Would the team bus to Charlotte and hang out for several days and chew up hotel and meal expenses? What exactly do teams do in Charlotte during bowl week? Do they go to Top Golf, Southpark Mall, etc? Just asking.

Re: Belk Bowl?
The Belk Bowl teams always do a trip out to CMS to partake in the Richard Petty Driving Experience. I think they also always visit the Children's Hospital at CMC and hand out gifts and shake hands and pose for photos. I believe that in the past they have done a bowling challenge evening-out type thing too, though Top Golf wouldn't be a bad idea and I could see that being a thing.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 11:48 amA huge part of the bowls is the reward for the players.
