Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I don't read their board except for the week they play us but here is the only thing you need to say to them. Their team is puts everything into us to get an upset but can't win 8 or 9 games overall and nobody wants their coach. At least we are dominating so much that our people are wanted. We are putting players in the Senior Bowl every year, we have won at least a share of the SBC the last 3 years, won the first ever SBC title game, the 2nd SBC team ever ranked, fastest to become ranked, first to successfully defend the rating, the only SBC team to ever be in the CFP, we are a brand name, and we are the leader of the SBC right now. If they had even half of that maybe they would have a coach people actually want. People want our coaches and players because they do a great job. So, if they are happy being bad enough that nobody wants their coaches and they don't win SBC titles or find themselves ranked then they live a sad life.
In short, their jealousy is well noted and and I don't loath them but instead I pity them. They use to be a dominant program but they have lost their way and the only happiness they get is gloating that their rival may lose a coach because he wins the SBC title. Ask them how many rings and banners they have since 2015. I bet we have more.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
As an App grad very familiar with Arkansas Athletics... Drink will not be the next coach at Arkansas. Infact, Arkansas alumni and students would even protest such a hire because he is not a "big name" coach. Arkansas fans are delusional and want Kiffin and Kiffin only. One question I wonder is, how has Doug Gillin not been on anyone's radar? I think he is the best AD in the country....

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Probably not.
According to someone on an Arkansas board, Kiffin signed a Letter of Agreement (intent) with Arkansas. This person apparently knows others who have connections to the leadership in the Athletic Department at Arkansas. Of course this comes from a message board so i'd take it with a 5 grains of salt.
Based on the trips back and forth and an in home meeting with Kiffin, I'd say that the only reason for the delay is the Championship Game and Jimmy Sexton negotiating the contract.

Latest info I have is that Drink killed the interview which isn't surprising but he is probably choice C behind Kiffin and Leach.

From what I’m seeing, he may not even be a bronze medalist.beachneer40 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:04 pmLatest info I have is that Drink killed the interview which isn't surprising but he is probably choice C behind Kiffin and Leach.
Have no problem with him interviewing, I would do the same. If he does stay and replicated what he did this year, he’s definitely going to be someone’s #1 candidate

It's good practice to continually interview, even if you aren't 100% sold on an opening. It keeps you fresh and makes you evaluate what you've done.

Not only that - but - the last thing a young up and coming coach wants to do is send the message that he's not interested in "moving up".BeauFoster wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 1:01 pmIt's good practice to continually interview, even if you aren't 100% sold on an opening. By "killed" do you mean Drink ended it or stopped it? Or did he do well? Asking for clarification.beachneer40 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:04 pmLatest info I have is that Drink killed the interview which isn't surprising but he is probably choice C behind Kiffin and Leach.

UNCC coach Will Healey is reported to be a candidate for the Missouri job.moonshine wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 4:58 pmI'm still trying to figure out the infatuation fans and AD's have with Kiffin besides his last name. Of his 60 collegiate wins, 25 came at FAU in a weak CUSA with his most notable win coming against a 5-7 AF team in 2018.
What am I missing?
The UNC-C fans all have boners thinking Doogie Howser can poach App's recruits. Maybe they can get a corporate sponsorship from Cialis with Healy lounging in a tub in the middle of Club LiT.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Totally agree. Always take an interview. Good practice and you may be surprised at what they have to say when you talk to them. That's exactly what happened at my current job...I was offered an interview, didn't think I would like the position, but took the interview anyway knowing I could always say know. Ended up taking the job, ended up being a great career move. Or if for now other reason, taking an interview gives you leverage with your current employer. He'd be unwise not to at least listen to what these programs have to say and offerBeauFoster wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 1:01 pmIt's good practice to continually interview, even if you aren't 100% sold on an opening. Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Exactly. I am laughing at their laughing. That is how clueless they are. They don't find pleasure in winning but instead somehow spin it that we are in trouble because people want our people. Others have always wanted our people and they always will. Nobody wants their people for good reason. I rather have a new coach every 4 years because we win than have a new one every few years because he can't win. Our problem is one I'm glad to take over their problem.appstate77 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:56 pmTheir negativity is all GaSo has. Let em roll in it like pig poo. Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I mean, would any one actually be upset about that?
Theoretically, he has enough money and is a former NFL coach. Herm Edwards will have Arizona State in the CFP discussion within two years as well.
Anyone know if he's ever been up to Boone?

I would expect our defense to continue their strong ways if Ron came on board. He'd also likely be more aggressive at times - places where we've criticized Satt and Drink in the past.
But that's likely to never happen, so...

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
You know, this isn't that crazy. In fact I love it! Ron, Herm, and Lovie all belong in the college ranks. They truly believe in teaching the craft and teaching how to be a better man. I know it's unlikely to happen but I would love to see how Ron would build a program. The man is the epitome of class and professionalism.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 2:06 pmI would expect our defense to continue their strong ways if Ron came on board.
