Re: Drink Interviews Update
I do believe Harsin is the first choice but not sure if he would take it. I think he will have better offers in the future and still has i think 3 years left on his contract. He has no buyout so he can leave free and clear.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
No coach is ever going to say “oh yeah if they offer me the job I’m out of here!” Reporters really just need to stop asking the question. What is Drink or any other guy supposed to say. I have never been one bit convinced that he has any desire to stay in Boone any longer than he has to. Maybe just my gut but I just don’t see him as an App guy. This is simply a stepping stone. Do I blame him? Heck no. Unless we want this to become a trend the next guy might need to be one of the internal coaches that has been mentioned.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
I don’t mind it being a trend if we can maintain where we are but I doubt that happens. Might not happen with someone staying for a while either. That being said if Drink is gone then I really want Clark to get a shot.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
247 message board has fans posting that Drink is going to Arkansas. Can anyone in media verify? I find it hard to believe it would be true this quick.

Just because of this I want the next HC to have a mega buyout until after year 3. Not sure if reliable. A lot of folks have turned them down. I would definitely not go there. Huge rebuild and you can win big next year and parlay that into a 4-5M a year job at a better situation.

I noticed that too. Everything right now is being analyzed to the nth degree, but that was certainly strange. First time in a year I’ve seen him with anything other than a Diet Mt Dew.

Arkansas fan told me it is on their board. I don't have a 247 account for them so I can't read it myself but I don't think my friend would lie to me.

I have access to their pay wall board and there is nothing on there to suggest what you are spouting. You need to learn to verify your source before posting.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:18 pmhttps://247sports.com/college/arkansas/ ... 140026463/yosef69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:10 pmLink?AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:01 pm247 reporting Drink is going to Arkansas. Re: Drink Interviews Update
I cant see the pay posts. But the fact that he used "reporting" to reference a message board post is laughable. Like someone on this board suggesting were going to hire someone.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:36 pmI have access to their pay wall board and there is nothing on there to suggest what you are spouting. Re: Drink Interviews Update
This kind of “reporting” is why I really try to not pay too much attention to all the coaching changes this time of year. The vast majority of reports are just idiots on message boards who know next to nothing. But, why am I not terribly surprised. Everyone needs to be the first one to break the news.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
First off it is a message board so the level of reliability has to be gauged accordingly. During our game, they were not in support of Drink getting the job. I have been watching their board for a couple of days and they have three different threads devoted to tracking planes. One guy posted he was the guy and the rest of them shut him down. It is pretty comical as they are desperate for answers. But no, Drink has not been offered the job, at least not publicly to which it is on the message board.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
I was talking about some posters on their boards saying they hear he is the guy in a thread. Not an article by the site admins. That's why I never said it looks to be a done deal.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:36 pmI have access to their pay wall board and there is nothing on there to suggest what you are spouting. Re: Drink Interviews Update
If it turns out that Drink was a one year rental, I'll tip my cap to him and wish him well. I really would like for Doug to try and bring in someone who will be truly committed to 5 years with a big buyout until year 3. The best options for this would be former App guys, which this Nation is peppered with. Brian Jean Mary is a very interesting one that tops my list with Clark. We all love Drink for maintaining the momentum that Satt created, but as a one year coach with a locker room full of leaders, it would be crazy to crown him as anything more than a great young play caller with a ton of potential. That's what hurts most, you can really see the potential in this guy. Better he does go now if he plans to over the next season anyway, that way Doug can reestablish a sustainable plan for maintaining our culture and momentum. We may be in this "coaching carousel" for the foreseeable future, but if we can create a funnel ala Boise State, we can maintain the culture and recruiting so we don't fall into years of mediocrity.

Ah okay. I was called and told that some posters on their boards are saying it is him. I do think it would be comical for them to take a guy after one year. They are very desperate.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:53 pmFirst off it is a message board so the level of reliability has to be gauged accordingly. I did mean to say posters were suggesting he will be the guy. I noticed their writers have written a lot about him so they must think he is at least a candidate.
Thank you for clarification. I doubted it but brought it up since some on their board were saying it.
Question, who do you think would be the best candidate for their job? Harsin?

Re: Drink Interviews Update
You said 24/7 was reporting he is going to Arkansas. You quoted a source. You took a posters word without verifying. I honestly don’t know who is worse at these hot takes, you are Eric.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
Exactly the way I feel. I think we could go after some interesting names if he goes. I would like to become the Boise State of the east coast for sure. Drink is full of potential. Once we can figure out how to keep the foot on the gas with a double digit lead to not let teams get back into it and he shows he can recruit and sustain he will be a great head coach. Drink definitely has potential. I would like to see him here two more years to watch him grow but if he goes I'll wish him well. We can reload the coaching staff and own the SBC again in 2020. We have the talent to win 11-13 games next year again.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 11:33 pmIf it turns out that Drink was a one year rental, I'll tip my cap to him and wish him well. I am warming to Jean Mary. He doesn’t run a 3-4 though.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 11:33 pmIf it turns out that Drink was a one year rental, I'll tip my cap to him and wish him well.
