Anyone remember early in the Drink era when he specifically said that he was not using App as a spring board for a bigger and better gig? If he goes, you can’t blame him but damn, he straight up talked some BS at one of his early press conferences. Chase the paper, you’ll be hard pressed to find the instant success you inherited at App.

I have that clipped into a soundbite to tweet at him when he takes the job. Itll make him so mad that he wipes his tears with $100s. (That was a joke)

That account looks about as reliable as the other one.

Its spreading like wild fire though across lots of accounts. I keep hitting refresh on a "drinkwitz" search and more and more are saying its happening.

Their message board is extremely confident it’s a done deal. So either some one is a master troll, or it’s true. Or both.

Really wish if it is happening they'd get it over with so the assistants can get planning for the bowl and DG can hire someone.

I just want Appalachian State to find a coach that we can grow with, not just hire the next new shiny OC trinket. Yeah we're going to always battle this coaching carousel, but let's look to develop rather than promote. This guy played us.

I am ready for it to be announced too. Then DG can interview Clark and make it a done deal. Go to NOLA with a chip again and whip some butt.

He 100 percent used us. Had no intention of staying here. Wonder if he even bought a house or if hes renting.

I haven't seen anything official from a reliable Mizzou source but reading between the lines, it seems clear from people connected to the AD that it is heading that direction.

Like we knew with Satt, you don’t have Jimmy Sexton as an Agent unless you have plans to make money. Jimmy Sexton knew this stop at App would help speed up Eli and they took it.

He should have saved the "this is not a stepping stone" crap then

We will always be a stepping stone as long as we’re in the Sunbelt.

Why? This is the only hire that would be here more than a year.

Wasn't aware he said that but if he did I would not have believed him or the next guy we hire either. Any young coach is looking at this job as a springboard eventually. I just wish it was like 3 or 4 years down the road. If he leaves and we hire another P5 coordinator we are looking at the same situation next year with what we have coming back. If we hire below the P5 level (Clark as an example) I don't believe a successful year would get him a big job next year due to his lack of P5 experience or G5 head coaching experience.

Or cusa. Or Mac. Or mwc. Or aac. Or most of the schools in any p5 conference.

There are only a handful of jobs that aren't stepping stone jobs. If you're being used as stepping stone, it means you're doing something right.

Hope someone told Drink that Mizzou is in probation and missed the postseason this year because of it.
