Re: Drink Interviews Update
So they are paying one guy $4 mill per to coach and one guy $3 mill per not to coach. Must be nice.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
I thought I was doing good when I got 3 months severance one time. I guess I should have negotiated a better contract.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
Drink delivered on exactly what he has been preaching all along, going 1-0. The team went 1-0 every week but one and not surprisingly he went 1-0 on the seasons in Boone. I'm interested on how much $ integrity is going for these days.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
Many of us agreed that Drink was a very smart guy, turns out he is also very frugal as well. Since he's proven to be all about the Money he'll be able to save some more on the soon to be millions. Instead of buying all new athletic coaching gear/attire he can just buy a box of mizzou patches and a 20 dollar iron then put this

over this

and Viola, Smart guy indeed.

I read that Pepsi is under contract with Mizzou until 2023. So he's got his Diet Mtn Dew covered until then (assuming he's there past Dec 2020).

Re: Drink Interviews Update
I know this is easy to say right now at this time, but here goes --- I always had a bad feel about this guy - I have never met him or seen him speak in person but I am an oldfart who has been with, around and in contact with coaches for a long, long, time and I just didn't buy his down-home act - sorry --- It was no use saying anything at the time and I am not saying it now as a "I told you so" because I didn't --- just giving my take on what I thought from the beginning --- I wish I had been wrong

Re: Drink Interviews Update
So, another way to look at it:
Drink payed us about $800,000 (Buyout minus salary and incentives) to coach our team this season.
That's almost like a third P5 win and we (net) didn't have to pay a Head Coach salary.

I love how now everyone knew along that Drink couldn't be trusted or that he would leave us high and dry. For most of the season he was walking on water and now it was obvious all along that his presence was just a sham. Again, this place is so mercurial.

Here's my contract: If you don't stay for the term of your contract you owe us everything we've paid you PLUS damages equal to 2x your contract salary. And you have to stand naked in front of the Mountaineer Statue for 12 hours in February.

I don’t blame anyone for taking a $3m per year raise. I love App but hot damn, that’s Scrooge McDuck, swimming in a pool filled with coins, money.
He’s not some App lifer, we hired him a year ago. I have mixed feelings but damn, good for him.
Now let’s beat UAB.

Re: Drink Interviews Update
I haven't seen anyone complaining about the obvious terrain of today's college football. I believe most of us just have an issue with how he did it. He owes us nothing, we had a mutually beneficial partnership. No one made him say the things he said at that post game presser, I get that it's hard to be put in that kind of position but that's what you sign up for when you take that $4 million dollar ticket out of town. Norvell deflected those questions and responded with, "this is about these guys". It was pretty clear at the time what was happening, so there is no need to lie or "mistruth" about the subject. Again I'm not even kind of upset about the decision he made, because I would have made the same decision in his shoes, but he could have handled the situation better. Before everyone tells it wasn't him who leaked the information and that's not his fault, I get that but this information is ALWAYS leaked. So either he is a fool(I believe he actually quite intelligent), or so very arrogant that he believes the things he said wouldn't blow up in his face the very next day. No matter what though he is off the Mountain and no longer our HC, the next chapter in this dynasty is about to begin!

Re: Drink Interviews Update
Well I will be honest, I bought in on Coach Drink. Liked him from the very beginning. I was naive enough to believe he would not be a "one and done" like so many college basketball players these days. I am a little older and still have too much faith in "loyalty". I don't blame him for leaving but I sure wish these coaches would learn not to say too much when they are hired and then quit. For example "This is not a stepping stone program?" Why even say this? We all know these guys are here for the money. Sure come in and tout about all the things you plan to do and how you will try to elevate the program. Then his comments in the Sun Belt post game where he totally contradicts himself. I swear as much money as these guys make hire a PR guy for your job acceptance and possible resignation. I feel so bad for our players. You win yet another conference championship and the next day your coach is gone. pssssst. I digress.
