Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
When the AD hires the next coach can we advocate that he not look for:
Genius
Guru
Incredible offensive mind
QB Whisperer
Up and Comer (that’s the main one)
How about the guy we already have who can sign the right kids, keep them out of trouble, keep them in class and have them graduate. It would be nice to promote the guy who loves App State, can direct a staff and by all means can put away a damn opponent when he has a big lead!

We just played the ‘19 season. I am confused.shortfatoldapp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:18 amWe probably are close to losing some signed from ‘18 because their guy is gone, some commits for ‘19 because of uncertainty, ‘20 who knows. That ought to equal 2 classes.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
There will be attrition from the current roster for sure. There always is. It’s the nature of the beast. But that isn’t due to coaching change. We didn’t lose but one player last year due to the coaching change. It’s way too early to tell about this year but the current coaches are out now talking to the kids. The affects of coaching change has on recruiting is overblown. Especially on a small sample size like we have. Besides, we have backup plans to our backup plans if someone backs out.shortfatoldapp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:18 amWe probably are close to losing some signed from ‘18 because their guy is gone, some commits for ‘19 because of uncertainty, ‘20 who knows. Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
Hopefully things will start to pop after 10:45 today. Drink will be officially in the past and we'll have our man soon. I'm all for due diligence, but a long drawn out search doesn't help us right now. Our players and future players need to know we are good and ready to move forward. Everyone can make their decisions accordingly. I'm very encouraged by the reactions of our players. They get it. Glad DG is still at the wheel, and I believe things will be in place sooner than later, regardless of where he'll call home next year.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I'm good with Clark based on his resume, player support, and obvious App ties but we must seriously complete our due diligence in a professional and methodical manner...so can someone post a picture of him in a visor please?!??

That settles it! Shawn it is!
And while we are at it, see if Jeremiah will take a paycut from his TV gig, ignore the NFL GM talk, and come back to App as AD (if the rumors are true).

If he is here, yes. If he is on his way out, then there will be a committee formed to conduct both searches.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I would value his input and any suggestions he may provide as we just went through this last year. However, if he's on his way out, the actual decision should be made by a committee as mentioned above.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I posted this on another thread but I would like to see Tim Horton get an interview. I remember reports about him interviewing for the job when Jerry Moore was moved along and reports were he interviewed really well, had a good plan, and probably finished 2nd in the interview process.
He would also make sense as an offensive coordinator.
Shawn Clark is still my top choice.

From footballscoop.com:
Missouri: Source tells FootballScoop Drink has offered to retain several of Barry Odom’s staff. We are told defensive line coach Brick Haley, safeties coach Ryan Walters and defensive backs coach David Gibbs are all expected to remain on staff at this time.

Yes I think Gillin has what’s best in mind for App even if he’s leaving. He’s been here a while and put in a ton of work to better the university. He won’t leave App in a bad situation and he’s earned a big pay day if that’s what he’s seeking.

I was saying there are some assistants who won't be with App or Missouri next year. Looks like Stewart will be one of those. Harbison and Gasparato stay here.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 2:09 pmFrom footballscoop.com:

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
Butch Jones the former Tennessee coach would do a great job at App. He was winning 8 and 9 games at Tennessee and did well at Cincinnati and Central Michigan as well. Enthusiastic type coach. Thoughts?

Why would Stewart not have a spot at App?AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 2:27 pmI was saying there are some assistants who won't be with App or Missouri next year.
