Beyond the boundaries of App Football, Shawn Clark has a really good reputation among coaching circles. He has spent time at different levels of football and has not been isolated to his almamater. His coaching pedigree being influenced by Jerry Moore and now Satterfield is a plus for people- being a players coach with a stern grip on a program and culture is something that is sought after nowadays (hence Satterfield's success). It is known that Clark has been working towards being the "Top Dog" somewhere, and I know this would be a dream destination for that benchmark. Probably before Drink ever planned on going to Mizzou, I promise Clark probably had some great offers on his desk for other positions in College Football.App91 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:45 pmGlad you said it first. I do not know much about him, but i want to know if he is the best possible candidate out there. i get he is an app guy, and i like that. Little concerned over the players and what they want. They are 18-22 yr olds, sometimes what they want may not be the best for them.
No ill will against SC and i trust Gillin, but just want to make sure we get the best out there.

Like a few of us have said, I just dont think Nate would be welcomed back here. I actually like Nate, but his personality didnt mesh well with a lot of staff/players in the past.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:14 pmWhy would Nate Woody come back as an assistant? Nate is definitely interested in coming back. I just don't think its a mutual interest.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:37 pmLike a few of us have said, I just dont think Nate would be welcomed back here. Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
Clark has coached in the ACC (Louisville) and the B1G (Purdue). He coached the OL and was Associate HC at Kent State and holds those titles currently at App as well (prior to being interim HC). He did an outstanding job as the acting OC/play caller for the New Orleans Bowl last year. He has 20 years of coaching experience as well as playing experience at App. Short of someone who has HC experience, he has about as strong a resume' as any candidate we're likely to hire. He also spent time at EKU and for the record....he just LOOKS like a football coach!

Don't forget, just like over 2% of all FBS head coaches, he was a player on the 1995 undefeated App State team.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:00 pmClark has coached in the ACC (Louisville) and the B1G (Purdue). To get to 2%, there have to be 3 coaches. I obviously know Satterfield and Elliott, but who's the third one I'm missing?AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:08 pmDon't forget, just like over 2% of all FBS head coaches, he was a player on the 1995 undefeated App State team.

No on Ivey! Bridges still smouldering everywhere behind him!
We probably should let Roof find another job, but that's messy. It would leave Roof, Jr twisting slowly in the wind. He really can't afford any more transfers following his Dad around.

Clark should start his own sideline style. How about the new HBC wearing a ball cap (Moore) and a App State sweatshirt (belichick).Rekdiver wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:57 pmIt's time to retire the visorugmw177 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:27 pmYea, but can he wear "The Visor"?AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:08 pmDon't forget, just like over 2% of all FBS head coaches, he was a player on the 1995 undefeated App State team.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:00 pmClark has coached in the ACC (Louisville) and the B1G (Purdue). People were so desperate to find something unique about Drink. Somehow "The Visor" became some kind of signature, as if every coach under 50 who wants to be Steve Spurrier (and still has his hair) doesn't also wear one.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:57 pmIt's time to retire the visorugmw177 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:27 pmYea, but can he wear "The Visor"?AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:08 pmDon't forget, just like over 2% of all FBS head coaches, he was a player on the 1995 undefeated App State team.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:00 pmClark has coached in the ACC (Louisville) and the B1G (Purdue).
