Re: Who stays, who goes?
Riley won't stay here to coach running backs when he's likely to get the same gig at Missouri. I'd venture a guess and say the only way he stays is if he is given some form of OC responsibilities because if he is anything like his brother, that's what's next for him.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:52 amI’m just making a wild a$$ guessI I have no “Inside” knowledge. Just because they are brothers, that doesn’t make them equally good. Remember Simon Peter Gruber? He was a good thief, but he was no Hans.ericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:21 pmRiley won't stay here to coach running backs when he's likely to get the same gig at Missouri. It's a supposition. Riley is a bit of a mystery.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 4:15 pmJust because they are brothers, that doesn’t make them equally good. Remember Simon Peter Gruber? Re: Who stays, who goes?
Shawn has worked side by side with Riley for a year so I imagine he has a feel for whether he has what it takes. He could be a little less talented than his brother and still be a really good hire for App. LOL
Let's trust SC to build a strong staff. I would love to see Taylor Lamb back in Boone but maybe he needs to start out as an analyst for a year or two before being handed a position. We all know he's extremely intelligent and loaded with talent though, so I imagine he will do a great job at whatever opportunity he's given (whether at App or elsewhere).

Re: Who stays, who goes?
So is it a given that Clark will be the OC? I’m assuming he will make the same base as the other guy? Same basic incentives? We should be ahead of the game a little with some extra cash to pay some guys aren’t we? I have no idea how all of the money swap works.
Re: Who stays, who goes?
My guess is he won't be the OC...just because he's only called plays once. Drink and Satt were both experienced playcallers by the time they took over. We will see though.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 7:06 amSo is it a given that Clark will be the OC? I’m assuming he will make the same base as the other guy? Same basic incentives? Re: Who stays, who goes?
I think that any posts about the coaching staff structure at this point are basically people posting opinions or hopes. We should know more over the next two weeks. I do think Clark being confirmed as our new HC will speed up the process because we will have more current staff remain.
I would think that Shawn will serve as the OC for the NO Bowl but I hope he hires or designates an OC rather than trying to do double duty next season.

I think he's going for the hat trick: Running TD, Passing TD, Receiving TD!bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 9:59 amDo you think that Zac is hoping to catch a TD pass this year?Yosef84 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 8:52 amI think that any posts about the coaching staff structure at this point are basically people posting opinions or hopes. Re: Who stays, who goes?
I would think that Clark will give Riley the first opportunity to take the OC job. If he turns it down, I'm sure we can find someone very capable to step in and continue what we have going for us on that side of the ball. I'm more worried about the defense to be honest. With what we are losing, it's going to be interesting to see how the defense comes out next season. At least we should get a good test in Wake before we head to Wisconsin for the toughest running game we will face for a LONG time!

I don’t know we almost got him killed this year on a couple of those pass attempts to him.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:32 amI think he's going for the hat trick: Running TD, Passing TD, Receiving TD!bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 9:59 amDo you think that Zac is hoping to catch a TD pass this year?Yosef84 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 8:52 amI think that any posts about the coaching staff structure at this point are basically people posting opinions or hopes. Speaking of Wisconsin’s running game next year, I believe Johnathan Taylor will be leaving early for the NFL.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
There is someone missing from our list of "possibles". AE is 31 and is at the end of his contract with Toronto. Would he want to come back to Boone as a grad asst., offensive QC or analyst to see if coaching floats his boat?

Re: Who stays, who goes?
I am hoping that he gets resigned as a player. He’s still very productive + he had a few years without contact, so that may parlay into a longer career.appstate77 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 11:49 amThere is someone missing from our list of "possibles". He is indeed leaving early. They usually have a good running back but I can't imagine that the new one is as good as him.Apple@chin1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 11:40 amSpeaking of Wisconsin’s running game next year, I believe Johnathan Taylor will be leaving early for the NFL.
