Maybe some posters are being too harsh, but the slobbering over him is even more insane. Some of these posts sound pathetic. He is who he is. I doubt he’s reading this thread and noting the posters who are sucking up to him as he heads to Missouri

No shit! This thread needs to end just like his time at App has.

Just heard he is nominated for national college coach of the year. Satt has to be laughing at that. Really????? He inherited a winner! Even the WXII sportscaster cleared his throat with a smirk after saying it.

I believe it was my freshman or sophomore year that Mack Brown spent his one season coaching. If memory serves me we went like 7-4 but damn you would have thought Bear Bryant had taken over. People went nuts and there was talk of stadium expansion even then. The dude bolted for greener pastures and we were fine. Before Drink was hired the consensus believed that anyone could direct this team to 10 wins at least. He did ok but did his damndest to make some games way too close. Goodbye and good luck fella. Moving on!

Just read what Drink said in his Mizzou presser. The same things he said to us last year, almost to the word. Dude played us like a drum. Had a former employer treat me the same way. Threw me out when I was no longer needed. I hope Drinkwitz grows up soon. At his age you think the end justifies the means. When you get older you realize the means to an end are more important.

Just read the the recently fired coach at Ole Miss has been named the offensive line coach at Georgia. Other than having some nice cash in his bank account that is pretty much how it goes when you take a head coaching job at one of the delusional SEC schools, lose games (gasp no way), get fired a year or two into the contract before you can even settle in. Go from the head man to offensive line coach at one of the big boy schools in the same conference.
And Morris of Arkansas just got hired as Auburns offensive coordinator

Why would he say anything vastly different? If that his approach/philosophy I would assume he would say the same things. Do you think Satt went to Louisville and had a totally different spiel?

I have no issue with anyone taking any job that they feel is best for themselves and their family. I was very excited when we hired Drink as I felt we would see some explosive offense that we have all been missing since we first installed the spread oh those many years ago. Now at the end of a great season, I look back and my hope of a consistent exciting offense never really materialized. Every week I would hope that this is the week we put together an entire game, but it never happened. It was always the same thing, complementary football as Drink likes to call it. In other words, get a lead, go conservative and let the defense keep the other team in check. That means we run the ball on such a predictive level and such predictive runs that our backs are easy targets because the box is stacked and everyone knows we won't throw much from that point forward. A lot on here use exotic sports car references but Drink NEVER allowed our offense to live up to its potential. He drove a Ferrari like it was a Ford, and not the GT. Yes, it was still fast and at times it would hit top speed but never for any extending period of time. We could have easily put over 50 on every team we played with the exception of the P5s. He didn't keep the pedal down and frankly I never really saw any of the "offensive genius" that we were supposed to get. Heck, the passing game never even took off the way most of us hoped it would. So I wish Drink the best in his next endeavor but I won't be following him or rooting for him. I will be following and rooting hard for whoever is our next coach. I hope it is someone that realizes that as a G5 school playing in the SunBelt that every game is a beauty pageant and we will need all the style points that we can get in every game we play. The pollsters don't look at our games, only the paper stats and scores. We need those things to pop out and get noticed, and that means high powered scoring offense the entire game. No question we will have the studs to do that next year, we just need a coach that allows them to play that way for the entire game. The last guy didn't, I hope the next guy does.
Great post!!!!!

If you play your cards right, coach mountain dew might acknowledge you at the mizzu tennessee game next year if your sign is big enough and you fan boy loud enough

Satt at least was honest and thought he had peaked his potential at App and said as much in his intro.

Interesting thread here:

Worth noting, Pack fans in general are quite complimentary of us. One goofball, but as a whole I found their commentary to be quite kind to us. Makes me kind of like them.

Not a fanboy, never thought he was an upgrade over Satt like many here did who now have hurt feelings. If it makes people feel better to find fault with everything he does that's their right to post it. So keep your condescending posts for someone else.

Plain and simple he left for a better payday. I'm not happy about it but understand why and its hard to fault him given the opportunity. He's young and has a lot to learn. His immaturity showed in his departure meeting with the players. He'll need to develop as a coach if he is to succeed at the next level as he'll have a lot more eyes and ears following his very move.

Has anyone thanked Drink for taking that wishy-washy offensive coordinator with him. Maybe the next guy will have the cajones to keep his foot on the gas and keep games out of doubt that don't need to be close.

But, but, according to Drink none of those games were ever in question.

What did he say different from his approach at App? I watched it too and I recall him saying many of the same things he said here. Why would he change his style and approach? Are you saying his approach at UL is different than what he did here?

Give it a rest. I was ok with your rebuttal to me but the more you keep arguing with people about his carbon copy acceptance speech the more you sound like a fan boy. The dude screwed up his exit. And he even said win the sun belt next year. For God sakes man. He seems like he has a rap and for a lot of folks on this board, it looks phony and well rehearsed. But by all means keep defending him.

Agreed. Get some egg nog and chill hap. This ain't cancer research, rocket science, nor deep theology. It's about a football coach.

I'll not defend his departure, he showed his immaturity and certainly has a ways to go as a coach in terms of his personal relationships. I'm certainly no fanboy and was never enamored with him. He never achieved the rarified status that some proclaimed when he was hired. I've been chill about his leaving and did not lose any sleep over his departure. I just felt some folks were being a bit over the top in trying to find fault with everything the man said or did. He's gone and we have a new coach, one who has united the entire fanbase. It's time to move past the previous staff and give our support for the new one. And, I hope that's were our focus and energy resides.
