Re: THE GAME
I guess we are favored by the number of points based upon our ranking and our strength of schedule.
Just judging by the one common opponent though.....
I think we will be fine if we are fired up and want to be there. If our heads aren't in this one, we could get humbled.

Re: THE GAME
As much as I enjoy a good back and forth football game, I'd love to see a blowout just to silence those that are still on the fence about the talent of our coaches and players, and whether we should've been matched up with a stronger opponent.

Re: THE GAME
Bowl games are parties. Nothing would be better to watch a one sided App victory where we are just piling on the points and everybody not wearing green is wildn'out in the Superdome.

Re: THE GAME
Took a second look at the championship game yesterday. We actually tried getting the ball to the TEs several times in that game.Mrsp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 10:12 amI hope so. Using these tight ends to only block prevented us from extending drives. The inability to extend drives and keep our defense off the field cost us the Southern game and made many of our wins too close for comfort. Using the tights ends properly will enable us to extend these drives. Making our wins even greater and increasing our margin of victory. Let’s go TEsappstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 3:51 pmYep. I can promise you that we will see more of Pearson next Saturday. This guy apparently is incredible and Watts is probably ready to show him off.appfan1991 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:54 amCoaching change - it's a wrinkle that has not been utilized much at all this season - Drink basically used TEs for blocking - Both Reed & Pearson have great hands.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:29 amIs there something about the UAB defense that makes you think this or is it more about the coaching change?appfan1991 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:24 amI believe we will use tightends and screens early and more than we have all year. That'll loosen up the 3-headed run machine - lights out.

Re: THE GAME
That's how it was in the second half last year. it was just a celebration of the team and App State football. Probably one of the most fun games that I've attended. it reminded me of the second half of the 2007 Championship, when we were in full control and Delaware had no chance.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 5:13 pmBowl games are parties. Re: THE GAME
Correct, we're favored based on the fact that we've been a far superior team over the course of the season.Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:41 amI guess we are favored by the number of points based upon our ranking and our strength of schedule.

Re: THE GAME
UAB coach Bill Clark was very respectful of our team in today’s press conference. Spoke VERY highly of Zac, having recruited him also. Both he and the 2 players that spoke are eager to redeem themselves after the thrashing they took in their championship game. We were referred to as giant killers and they are viewing this game as a role reversal. I hope we are ready because they know they are big underdogs with little to lose. Having played there last year and our guys knowing what to expect in NO should be an advantage.

Re: THE GAME
With continual success I always worry about complacency setting in. I remember a player, can't recall who but I think back in the FCS days, telling his teammates that "the other team's not gonna just lay down because we've got Appalachian on our jersey!" The reality is just the opposite...we're going to get everyone's best shot because we're App and beating us would provide some redemption for the Blazers' poor showing in their championship game.
Hopefully, our guys will want to launch the Clark era in a big way...

Re: THE GAME
Had anyone seen any of UAB's games? I just watched the highlights from FAU game. It was highlights and one sided but FAU was up 35-6 at half. UAB looked slow, very jv and linemen looked soft not fit. If App isn't ready to play it will be an all time upset for us. These guys did not beat a single team with a winning record the best I can tell.
If App plays their A game this will be epic!

They beat 9-3 La Tech. However, La Tech was w/o their starting QB, WR and OLB and maybe more due to suspensions.Yosefus wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 3:08 pmHad anyone seen any of UAB's games? Re: THE GAME
Same with La Tech. They beat Grambling and So Miss only ones with a winning record. Looks like we only had 4 though if you count 6-6 UNC and UL x2, and Charlotte was a good win looking at it like that I guess97APP wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 3:18 pmThey beat 9-3 La Tech. We can't expect to be Cheez-It'd in this way every year, but if we're going to witness another defensive masterpiece (I'm trying to be positive with the framing here), it's likely to be one of these games:
New Mexico Bowl (Dec. 21): Central Michigan vs. San Diego State (the early betting market puts the combined point total around 41)
New Orleans Bowl (Dec. 21): UAB vs. Appalachian State (47.5)
Redbox Bowl (Dec. 30): Illinois vs. Cal (43)
Belk Bowl (Dec. 31): Kentucky vs. Virginia Tech (48)
Sugar Bowl (Jan. 1): Baylor vs. Georgia (41.5)"

I can't believe that the combined points are only 47.5. Where can a man bet the house?biggie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 9:23 amhttps://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... -bump-more
