Best Season Ever...13-1???
Hell of a season, beating both Carolinas, 4th straight SBC title and another bowl win, but is it the best season ever???
I only go back to 1989, so if some of you want to go back before '89 I'll just have to hear you out. But for me, beast season ever is 2007. 2005 was most important season, but '07 was the best...but 2019 was pretty damn good...thoughts?

I’m going to cop out and separate FCS and FBS, FCS 2007, FBS 2019!!!!APP93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 1:04 amHell of a season, beating both Carolinas, 4th straight SBC title and another bowl win, but is it the best season ever???

No love for the 1937 team?

I'd say a 13-1 FBS season tops the list to date

2006 was the best FCS season. 14-1 with the only loss being the opener to NC State before the QB change.
It's impossible to compare teams from different eras. Only thing I'll say is that 2019 was our best FBS team.

If you try to compare an FCS season to our current FBS season.... then you might be stuck in the past. This was our best season ever. period...... 2007 had ONE game that made us a household name, but the season as a whole was nowhere near what this one has been.....

100%. After Michigan the season was not very good until we got to the playoffs. People overlook the 1995 regular season but that was amazing. We had some epic wins against Wake Forest for sure.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 2:18 amIf you try to compare an FCS season to our current FBS season.... then you might be stuck in the past. As for who is the best team in App history? There is no question and you can't argue against 2019 being that team. This 2019 App State team right now would steam roll any team we ever had and the only reason the 2007 team would keep it close is Armanti Edwards. I am not trying to put down the past but this team is by far the fastest, most talented, and deepest.
I look forward to 2020. That team could be better than this team. If Evans indeed does come back and we don't lost any of the 2-deep to grad transfers then we will be something else. Prepare to hear Nick Hampton up for SBC DEF POY, Sutton should have a monster year, and we could seriously be a NY6 frontrunner if we start out 3-0 and then go undefeated.

I was not in anyway saying 2007 team would beat this team, impossible to compare eras/teams. I was thinking more about which team did the most for App in terms of advancing the program. I can't argue against this team over any other team, was just curious of other opinions.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 2:18 amIf you try to compare an FCS season to our current FBS season.... then you might be stuck in the past. Re: Best Season Ever...13-1???
We just played and won another bowl game with a 20 beside our name. For several weeks when you click on the scores tab on the ESPN college football page the first list is the top 25. You only needed to scroll down to see us. You didn’t have to scroll way down to Sunbelt to find our results. Beat 2 P5’s obviously. We also got talked about routinely on national platforms this year including Game Day- branding stuff right? Those great FCS years were great and can’t be taken away but only a few folks outside of our world gave those accomplishments much love. The years we beat Wake they typically sucked and weren’t on a level much higher than really good FCS IMHO.
This year was hands down the greatest.

There is no way 2019 is the best year in App State history.

Re: Best Season Ever...13-1???
If you’re asking if this was the best team we’ve ever had, I think most would agree it was.
If you’re talking more about what was the most enjoyable season ever, which I think is what you’re getting at, then that’s more about personal preference.

Re: Best Season Ever...13-1???
It bounces 31-3 the final 50 minutes of the game? It bounces 6 sacks? It bounces 3.1 yards per play the final 50 minutes of the game? It bounces two safeties to cover the post and flag routes? It bounces the way that a safety is aware a late TE post route off of play action is coming? Sometimes the ball hits the turf and bounces right up into the receivers chest, which is usually called an incomplete pass.
UAB folks are upset about the leaping penalty but the reality is that it was a penalty per the rule. They can be upset about the Fehr helmet rip but it didn't really impact the game.

Actually, a fair point. The way the ball bounced resulted the in the margin of victory.

Well, they would have kept the ball and perhaps scored. Lots of ifs had to take place but I can imagine our fans if the shoe were on the other foot.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 12:13 pmIt bounces 31-3 the final 50 minutes of the game? Sure. But it was a penalty. So the shoe being on the other foot is irrelevant.hapapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 12:18 pmWell, they would have kept the ball and perhaps scored. Re: Best Season Ever...13-1???
UAB was lucky it was 14 points. We should have won by 24-30. We played bad and still won by 2 TDs. That's what a top 25 team does. Even when you are playing poorly you still beat unranked teams with winning records by double digits.
