Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
I know some make a joke and think who cares about Morgan State but our entire team better care 100%. We can't become like Michigan was and overlook these teams. Morgan State is not very good but I want to respect them and really put it on those guys. We need to get plenty of young guys in, stay healthy, and really put up a lot of points.
Take it one game at a time and don't overlook anyone. We need to treat every team like they are our Super Bowl. We just went 13-1 and will finish in the top 20 but our 2020 team is going to be more experienced and talented than our 2019 team.

Everyone will be watching this game. This is a statement game for us. Wake Forest will expect to beat us by a couple TDs. Hopefully we will take more folks over there than they will have like we use to. People think this year was magical and it was great but our team should be special. I actually hope we go in there and beat them by 20+. I want to make a statement in Winston-Salem!

I've already started the pre-game trash talking with my Wake Forest associates...they're standing strong and won't admit it but you can tell they're worried...

I know this "Don't overlook an opponent" thing is brought up even beyond this board.... But wasn't Michigan just plain stupid for overlooking a team that had just won back to back National Championships at the FCS level? I'm not knocking Morgan St or ETSU or whoever, but I'm pretty sure any competent football FBS program wouldn't overlook a FCS opponent that just one two National Championships.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 11:42 pmI know some make a joke and think who cares about Morgan State but our entire team better care 100%. You ever seen a WF home crowd?

It will be a "tough" ticket but definitely not impossible like UNC. We should easily have 15k there with potential for more.

I like to pick fun with the #'s an all, but it's not like we are playing James Madison or NDSU. I would not overlook either of those. Morgan State was 3-9 this year with several blowout losses to teams we would easily blowout. I'm ok with the team overlooking them and if we only beat them by 30, I will forgive them.

With their QB and WR returning, they are a legit top 25 team. And Wake performs very well when other teams takeover their stadium. Ask NC State fans.

I know if we were playing NDSU, I WOULD BE WORRIED. It was different than Morgan State.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 10:48 amI know this "Don't overlook an opponent" thing is brought up even beyond this board.... Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
App should have far more than 15,000 in Winston-Salem. I'd honestly expect 60/40 in favor of App for the game. The only difference between this and a home game is student attendance. If I'm App, I'm finding ways to bus students down the mountain in droves.
Bottom line is that if App can't get 20,000 to 25,000 in Winston-Salem, what was the point of scheduling a game against ECU in Charlotte?

Can't go undefeated unless we win our first game. I expect to beat the crap out of Morgan State but we still have to do it. With the transfer portal you never know how a team may change between now and then.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 9:57 amOh good lord. With that said, I don't like FCS games. I think we need to drop them and try to play another G5 team. I don't see any benefit of this. I mean if we beat them by 70 people will say it was expected but if we only won by 10 or lost people would say we are overrated and think the sky is falling. We don't have the money to pay FCS teams the big money games they need and I would not do it. My only complaint on Gillin is still playing these games. I would love to drop them and add CUSA, AAC, or MAC team to the schedule.

Morgan State is a strange team. Finished 3-9 but beat Celebration Bowl champ N.C. A&T each of the last two seasons.
