I don't think he has been on campus four years. 2016 was his true freshman year and he redshirted in 2017. EDIT- I blame the "Egg Nog" for my crappy math. I'm trying to find out if he's done or not now. I'll post once I find outNavyApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 7:48 pmWith him having been on campus for 4 years I would guess he at the very least is very close to graduating.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 7:16 pmWe will be fine.i just hope he makes arrangements to get his degree.

I know Evans is the man..... but the best "RUNNERS" this school has ever seen are Armanti and Kevin Richardson. Armanti just had some sweet moves and speed... Richardson would flat out run over you, bounce off you, and just make you miss. Plus the line they played behind wasn't near as good as this Oline is. Evans is still the man, and I hope he gets paid! Running backs take a beating in this sport and he has to strike while he is healthy and he is hot. Best of luck to him. Plus if he gets paid I am sure some of that money will make its way back to the school.

Not really trying to have a back and forth about it but if his freshman year was 16/17, then redshirted 17/18(we know he was on campus because of all the stories of Sutton and Evans killing it on practice squad), had a breakout in 18/19, then had the historic year this year 19/20.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 8:13 pmI don't think he has been on campus four years. 2016 was his true freshman year and he redshirted in 2017.NavyApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 7:48 pmWith him having been on campus for 4 years I would guess he at the very least is very close to graduating.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 7:16 pmWe will be fine.i just hope he makes arrangements to get his degree.

Good for Darrynton. Unlike Duck, I think he gets drafted after the 3rd round. He's going to measure/grade out extremely well at the Combine/Pro Day.
I look at him as a utility type of running back, ala Tavaris Cadet, but more skill.

Congratulations to Darrynton on an amazing carrier at App. He made a bunch of big plays and when called upon became an every down back. 157 yards in his final game as a Mountaineer, WOW. The coaches said he was a very mature young man and after reading his announcement I believe them. What a classy way to go. Well he will never really be gone. If you didn’t read his instagram post you should. Looking forward to seeing him play on Sunday and looking forward to seeing him back at The Rock. Exited to see what the future holds for Darrynton, nothing but the best for this young man, he made us all proud!

I think we’ve been blessed with some amazing running backs in the past 13 years and Evans was amongst those, but his return skills were unmatched.

Good luck Mr. Evan's. I hope he makes it. Unfortunately for the team I think he was a necessary part of making the NY6 next year. It's very hard to make that game. But we have alot returning and I think 13-1 or 12-2 should be the expectation. Wisconsin will be immensely difficult, Wake will be a dog fight, beating Louisana twice a year will get increasingly difficult, and at Georgia Southern and home vs Arkansas State will be very tough. But I look forward to the 2020 teams just hate Mr. Evan's wont be a part of it.

Re: Darrynton Evans - Declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft
Its so hard comparing different players from different eras running different schemes. I didn't see Settle play, Kevin Richardson was my favorite all around back and fit perfectly for the spread option we were running at the time. Evans to me looks faster once he has open field, I could see the NFL using him as an Alvin Kamera type of running back and definitely a return guy. Marcus Cox always amazed me, to me he didn't look big or fast but he had great eyesight and made the right cuts when he needed to.

John Settle. No S on name. Played when we ran I formation, no passing game at all. He was a workhorse plain and simple. Our whole offense. Played for Falcons and I think he was pro bowl at least once.

Good luck Mr. Evans, and thanks for the electric plays you made. Would love to see you in a Panther uniform. They could definitely use some help on special teams and giving McCaffrey a breather, and whatever that may lead to.

John Settle was the 1s UDFA to rush for 1,000 yards and did make the pro bowl. He finished his career playing for Joe Gibbs in Washington. Joe Gibbs was always complimentary of John.

The highlight of my brief football carrier at App is being able to tell folks I got run over multiple times by a pro bowl running back. I had a chance to talk to John last year around this time. He seemed to be enjoying life and doing great.

Smart move. His stock couldn't possibly get any higher from coming back next year. One of the best to ever do it for the Black and Gold, epitome of #TIGMA
