I’m against any AAC team in bowl games. We need Penn State to destroy Memphis to help shrink this idea that the AAC is closer to the P5 group than the G5. That will help us in future seasons, because right now the perception just basically auto bids the AAC champ to the NY6.

I’m not. I’m cheering for the top ranked G5 team to show the G5 is more than capable of playing with the big boys.

I disagree. Finishing this season ranked 18 vs 17 will have very little effect on how next season goes.

But a G5 team getting blown out by a decent Penn State team only fuels the P5/G5 separation conversation.

A big Memphis victory shows how strong the top of the G5 is.

I hope we have much more than a month me year window. I think more of our program than that. If Clark is who we hope he is, recruiting should stay strong. If not, he will be on the hot seat.

I'm kind of rooting for Memphis. Memphis winning would help G5 perception overall and I feel like we will be ranked under Memphis regardless.

True, but the AAC’s puffing of their chest all year, while downplaying all other G5 schools, especially those they felt threatened by like App and Boise, deserves a beat down to bring them back to earth, IMO

I think they were doing that because they know App was just as good.

Memphis people truly think they would roll App State by 14-20.

Exactly. Not sure why some don’t get that. Memphis getting blown out will not make people say App shoulda been there. And if they do all will say is app woulda gotten beat too. We need the G5 rep to play well.

It would be very cool to finish with the best record of any team not in the playoff. And since we talk about setting up for potential NY6 appearances in the future, it would help preseason expectations if some of App's main contenders are knocked down a peg.

Also I don't think we are in desperate need of G5 wins in the NY6. The group is 3-2 under the current format The two losses were by one score. The top tier G5 teams have repeatedly proved they can beat major programs. If Memphis loses today, that doesn't change at all.

The pollsters aren’t going to move us above them. Memphis looks like they belong in this game. If you didn’t know better this game looks like two top tier teams going at it. It’s the perception of the school in a way, market big enough with all the other factors, it can make an impact

If Memphis thinks they can "roll us" by 15-20, they should put their money where their mouth is and schedule a home and home with us. Otherwise it is idle talk.
