Anyone that doesn't think we travel well just needs to look at the Sun Belt away attendance numbers, with the exception of the outliers (big P5 schools), and see that not only do we lead in home attendance we also lead in away attendance numbers. Fact is we travel better than anyone in the Sun Belt and is more in line with P5 schools than G5 schools. The week leading up to the Troy game one of our posters stated that their (Troy's) ticket office told them that they always liked when we came to town because we buy tickets and travel well (or words to that effect). Are we going to fill a 100k seat stadium? No we are not, but I don't think any other G5 would either and only the elite P5s will. We travel well for what we are, a smaller regional public university with lower numbers of living alums when compared to larger more established schools. Heck, I have seen less fans in the Swamp from visiting SEC schools than we brought down there over 10 years ago when we were still FCS. Opposing teams recognize that we sell tickets and travel well to away games.
I don't think anyone is suggesting we don't travel well. As stated, per capita we travel better than just about anyone else. I do think, however, we overestimate the actual numbers that travel. That was my point, not that we don't travel well.

Yes, I agree that nobody really knows the actual numbers that travel for App. I just know it is a lot for a school our size.

These threads and debates about our game attendance absolutely kill me and most completely ignore one of the most obvious aspects- our conference foes. How many fans for Texas State, the Louisiana schools and others except for maybe CCU bring anyone to KBS? Even though our official seating isn’t massive if you were to substitute ECU, Marshall or even JMU for some of our current conference teams you would see way more seats filled. Even if the opponent brings 2,000 fans instead of 100 that makes a huge difference. An early season conference game against ECU or Marshall would pack the house. Asking App fans to make up the seating difference against LMU is asking a lot

It’s not easy to travel for away conference games when our shortest drives are over 5 hours from our home field (Coastal, Ga. State, and The Stink).

We traveled well to UNC and USC this year because of the closer proximities to campus and a large number of our alumni base. Same with Charlotte last year.

When I was watching the Cotton Bowl, I thought about this thread. Does Penn State's coach James Franklin have that head coach feel? Would you say his actions and demeanor represent his institution well? The reason I ask is that I noticed he was spitting a lot on the sideline while on national TV. I doubt any of the Nittany Lion faithful worry about that...

I definitely would, he’s a fraud and should be publicly shamed for his actions.

But, the logical side part of me says it’s a bit bigger than just that. Thank you for weighing in on your spit/swallow preference

Probably don't if they like that image for their University.
