ASU Golf stand bag?

Unread post by rbarthle17 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 9:07 am

Long story short - I am in the market for a new golf bag this year. Looking for a lightweight stand bag. I found an ASU one online, but it's not a store I recognize and requests for info on the bag have gone without a reply.

Does anyone know if any stores with a strong or direct tie to ASU sells this?

I know that, at some point, you could make a donation to the ASU golf team and they would give you a Ping team bag. A friend has one, saw it this weekend - it looks GOOD. maybe try emailing the mens golf coach and see if they still do the deal?

If college golf store dot com was the site you tried (it is the only one I found that had it available) and they didn't respond to your emails, try calling their custoner service number at 877-224-6997. That's all I've got. Hope it helps.

I think yosefgear.com used to sell them. Not listed on their site. Owner used to post on mmb. Maybe try contacting him?

That is the store I found. Generally my first litmus test for an unknown store is how responsive they are to sales inquiries. I also hate talking on the phone. :D

The one you show has that awful shade of yellow that thousands of ASU fans hate. But if you like it, then what the heck.

There's been one of those in the bookstore on campus forever.

The bookstore used to sell them, I'm fairly certain. I need to go by there today (but must go this week) and will try to remember to find out what I can. I'll post back here around 5:00 PM today as to what I find, if I make it by.

They have a cart bag, 8 to be exact. It is $200 + tax (if in state only). $15 shipping. Individual slots for the clubs. Plenty of pockets and lighter than I expected. It could easily be carried and sits upright on a sturdy base. It just doesn't have the kick stand. I got some pics on my phone and will try to get them on here when I get home from baseball, if you want.

Thanks for doing this. I'd like to see the pics and see if it's the same cart bag I found online from multiple places for $120-150 (shipping included). When I play, 90% of the time I walk but I have my own pull cart that I use. I've had a lightweight stand bag for so long I'm just out of touch with how bulky or not the cart bags really are. If they aren't that much more in weight then my routine would allow for a cart bag.

Here you go! I think it would definitely work on a pull cart.

I got a reply from Coach Dicus. He gave his consent to pass this along:

"We offer the current bag for purchase by boosters. I am attaching a picture. It will be the one we use through 2013-14. It is a Nike bag and will come to you personalized with or without the SoCon logo on the ball pocket. Cost is $200.00 which includes shipping and personalization. If you want one let me know shipping address and send check made out to ASU Athletics. On memo line you can put golf bag. Mail to address below. We sell about eight of these bags a year."

There are currently four bags available.

Can I get one with the "Sun Belt" logo on it??

If you can swing it (wink...wink) you should buy it from the golf coach. Not only do you get the bag that the team gets but those dollars will also go to support the golf team student-athletes.. A win-win in my opinion.

GO 'NEERS!

Wonder if the official(Nike) ASU bag has a stand? I also need a new golf bag. How about an email for Coach Dicus?

I went with the cart bag. I would like to help ASu golf but that price was more than I budgeted for this. Mine arrived today!

Yes they have a stand. I can't find bill's email in my contact list but I think it is dicuswa@appstate.edu.
