On a side note, it looks like the ECU spring game attendance was also less than UNCC.

Unfortunately, the Panthers have to deal with the weather and they still keep thousands in their seats. Of course they are NFL, but there are dozens of posts on this board heralding the NFL.Rekdiver wrote:watch what happens the first rainy cool day the charlotteans have to deal with.

I'm sure most UNCc fans are Panthers fans, but I wouldn't think the generally fickle nature of the average Charlotte sports fan would necessarily be the same of UNC-Charlotte fans. Mostly because they will depend on alumni for 95% of their fanship just like we do.ASU-FTW wrote:But if I'm a Charlotte fan (JCline0429 wrote:Unfortunately, the Panthers have to deal with the weather and they still keep thousands in their seats. That is unless you like your fans to sit on their hands, sell your tickets to opposing teams' fans, don't show up in general. Charlotte is a fickle town if you use pro sports as an indicator. It almost seems like there are more transplants in Charlotte than people who actually grew up there.
I agree for the most part. I guess they hope that with the addition of football, they are able to bring in interest from their alumni. But, they do have the added benefit of bringing in neutral fans from their surrounding, large metropolitan area. I live in Greensboro and UNCG tries to do this (as pathetic as it may be) through newspaper and radio advertisements. They attempted to re-brand their image as "Greensboro's team".Gonzo wrote:I'm sure most UNCc fans are Panthers fans, but I wouldn't think the generally fickle nature of the average Charlotte sports fan would necessarily be the same of UNC-Charlotte fans. That is why having 0 college experience is going to be detrimental. What's the use of having scores of alumni if the vast majority haven't any kind of emotional attachment to the school?
