Re: App/CLT part 3
I'm guessing everyone saw Gillin's announcement about no fans at the two Sept home games?

Re: App/CLT part 3
Unfortunately it had to be done in accordance with Cooper's extension on the limit on outdoor gatherings through basically the end of September. If I was a betting man, I would say it will continue to get extended through October which means we're going to be able to watch App football on TV and from the woods above the stadium.

Re: App/CLT part 3
It's college football, so anything can happen, but I think there is a strong probability that we win by at least 2 scores. Charlotte is improving and will play hard, but we played terribly on D last year against them. It all depends on how well our new coaching staff has gelled and whether the team has maintained focus through a ton of distractions (including a Covid cluster that caused us to miss some practice). I'm still optimistic, but I usually am.ah59396 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:15 pm-20.5 line seems a little optimistic. UNCC made it a game last year and I suspect the same this year.
I really want to see our defense perform well. My expectations for our offense are the same as last year given we return the house. But I’ll definitely be more excited if we won a 28-10 game versus a 55-30 horse race.

Re: App/CLT part 3
Our defense played their worst game in several years when we played them last year. They knew it, too. I'm not just trying to take away what was a pretty impressive offensive performance by UNCC, but let be honest. The D made tremendous strides after that and shut down Sam Howell two weeks later.
I hope the D comes out with something to prove, because they have something to prove.
Offensively, we did whatever we wanted to against UNCC for the last two games. Their defense was cut to pieces by a very very bad Buffalo team in their bowl game.

If we had a dollar for every "Fire Roof" post from after that game we wouldn't have had to cut three sports.Gonzo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 2:53 pmOur defense played their worst game in several years when we played them last year. With this 3rd person post I can only surmise you have been reading a bit too much from ghost of clit, oops I mean ghostofclt from the Charlotte message board.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:26 pmNatty says App’s football fan base is larger than Clt’s total fan base.

Re: App/CLT part 3
Students should be allowed to mask-up , disburse and occupy every third seat or so in the stadium. They would be “safer”there than in the dorms or dining hall. Unfortunately, some of the people Cooper listens to would be more than ok with the demise of college athletic programs.

Cooper is an avid college sports fan....and you think students would sit in every 3rd seat?

Re: App/CLT part 3
Maybe they would, maybe not. But they'd be better off in open-air KBS than they will be leaning over one another ordering beers at Portafino while they watch this game. I'm certain students and others will pack out every restaurant/bar and apartment watch party next weekend. Of all the mysteries that still surround Covid-19 its transmission is well understood. Outdoor transmission isn't the issue. Studies in the US and abroad have long confirmed.
The only concern with games would be bathrooms and concession lines, which are no different than your trip to the grocery store and would be mitigated by masks and 6' markers.
If you're convinced that Cooper's decisions on openings/closing aren't tied to his biases the only other alternative is a coin-flip. Maybe a dart board? They're arbitrary at best.

Some will go to the grave defending King Cooper’s decision. Insisting we live in fear until the virus goes away forever, and no one ever gets sick again...it ain’t happening.
It’s only going to get worse as we sit at home watching our beloved Apps, while we watch every other college game outside of NC with fans in the stands.

Re: App/CLT part 3
Speaking of "every third seat idea", realize will cut capacity, would love for App St to go to individual seats versus aluminum benches...that is one thing another university has done well... enjoyed the individual seat idea while winning at said university..

Perhaps masks aren’t as effective as advertised? Outdoor venue. Spacing. Masks required. But not “ safe”.

Considering that your only two previous posts were extremely negative and insulting to our athletic department , you must either be trolling or “sad” because you’re pulling for Harrisburg.

Re: App/CLT part 3
No one with any credibility said masks were 100% effective. Many experts said they are helpful in lowering the spread of coronavirus.
With that said I do think in a venue of our size and it being outside in the noon time with lots of UV light from the sun (if not cloudy) that we could put a few in the seats. Maybe a few thousand, or at least family members. But the flipside of that involves bathrooms and concessions and then cleaning the bathrooms and concession areas that are cramped. It does become a bigger undertaking than it may seem, and I assume for basic health department reasons there needs to be some access to at least water and restrooms. The safety of concession workers should be considered. Maybe we only do sales in the stands with roaming sellers. That could work if we had credit card only transactions with a iOS device to allow swipes. I doubt we are set up for that sort of tech. That could be done is theory but is the wifi and such in place.
