I see it differently. Granted they received a lot of pushback and no doubt it played a role in the reversal. However, they may look like the smart ones here if they pull it off. They let the other conferences act as guinea pigs to see whether it could be done. So far, relatively good. Though, some teams have yet to play because of postponements and others have had games moved. Come the end of October, we will likely know whether season will play out. Their teams will be eligible for the playoffs and in essence, no harm, no foul. They potentially can have their cake and eat it too.
Nope, they look like idiots.

We'll see come the end of the season. If Ohio State or someone from the Big 10 wins the national championship (not predicting that) I don't think they will look like idiots.

What's your position on sending kids back to school full time?

Starting Oct 24 they'll play 8 games in 8 weeks followed by the championship game, so they'll be in the playoffs and bowls.

However, I hope they are not ranked until they actually play a game. That gives us a better chance to stay ranked...as long as we keep winning.

The Big 10 will also test daily and has established strict guidelines concerning positivity rates and practice/competition. I also believe that they will require a 21 day layoff for any player with a positive diagnosis. Any player with a positive diagnosis will have to undergo a cardiac evaluation and must be cleared by cardiologist before resuming play.

No way the PAC reverses course, they are too invested in a lockdown.
They're also currently on fire, so I doubt it's the top priority.

No kids should be sent back to full-time school until all has been done to make it as safe as possible - My wife and I are former educators and we realize how difficult this will be, but no one, and I mean no one, should push for anything less because of personal gain.

Some of you really are insufferable. Your overinflated egos constantly bring every thread back to the same thing.

I am as well and I don't disagree. ( I taught high school for 35 years and am still teaching at the community college level). But, I see what the Big 10 did as a similar situation. That's why I asked. I'm not interested in debating the pros and cons of any decision regarding COVID-19, I was just curious about your position there.

Ha - no foul.

The backlash they received from their alumni base.

They look foolish, the science hasn’t changed and look like hypocrites now.

August - Don’t put kids and others at risk - no sports.

Sept - oh crap we’re about to lose big donors, the risk is worth it. Send those kids out there!

The reason the B1G looks bad in my eyes is the indecisiveness and back tracking. They said they would play a limited conference only schedule, they released the schedule and then 6 days later cancelled the season only to go through a month plus of crap and now reinstate the season starting in late October. The should have done like the SEC did and postpone it while continuing to study the issue. The SEC start date is late enough that it gave time for more information without the need of causing a panic by cancelling the season. The B1G could have done the same thing, the kids and teams could have kept practicing and played their first game in a week and a half like the SEC. I don't care if a B1G team wins the title, I still think the conference looks like a bunch of leaderless clowns. I really think the reasons that the Presidents/Chancellors cancelled the season is because that conference has an overinflated sense of self worth on the academic side and those in charges view themselves as pubic Ivys so they did what the Ivys did, much like the Patriot league did. Problem is that they didn't think about the backlash that they would get. See the Ivys can cancel football and all other sports and it hardly makes a splash, the B1G however made a tidal wave with the same actions. Those in charge were not prepared for the onslaught of negative publicity that they received, so now they capitulate in the name of "safety" because of new rapid testing. I don't buy it and never have, if the Presidents were really worried about the health and welfare of the student body, those students wouldn't be on campus. Everyone knows that it is the normal college students that are experiencing the highest numbers of Covid on campus, as opposed to the athletes that are tested and fairly isolated. But I didn't see any of the schools canceling the semester due to safety issues. The entire conference has looked like a ship without a rudder being tossed against a rocky shore since the cancellation of the season. Just because they finally got the ship to shore and safely got the passengers off does not change my opinion on the lack of leadership in the conference. Bunch of buffoons in my eyes.

I mean I don’t blame them for the decision. I truly think they were running under the assumption that everyone would follow suit. If you go back To July the NCAA fcs pushed the playoffs, Olympic non football sports canceled, and with the looming reality that attendance was going to be 0 or extremely limited they were trying to be ahead of the game.

Look at unc furloughing staff without the in person event revenue. I never even thought that UNC would have financial woes with all their income from just one season of weirdness. Once the big 12, sec and acc forged ahead they had an egg on their face. It didn’t matter what the g5 conferences decided, it was down to one of the remaining P5 conferences and I thought it wasn’t going to happen. It also didn’t help with the NCAA saying that online classes wouldn’t count for eligibility.

But on the bright side, testing has improved for the the players and it’s been shown that off the feild Activities are causing the problems not games or practice. Still understand the attendance decisions because that’s a whole other issue but it is what it is at this point.

I'd drop Campbell and go to Wiscy. So I guess complaints would be hypocritical.

If we're all honest here, most folks on this site (and others) were doubtful we would see any college football this season. I'm just glad we're getting some! I hope our luck holds!
