Time for Clark to call his own plays from the field.

Yep. Tony needs to get up to speed. From my view, he had 2 plays

Petersen can be the eye in the sky but what we got now ain’t working especially in the red zone. Call the plays Clark. It’s your team.

People are common. I'm disappointed and yes I was ticked that he fumbled but geez some folks need to get a life. What a lack of class people have. I'm sure there is no one on earth who feels as bad as he does. Give the guy a break.

It appears it’s the sad face/pouting on the sideline after the fumble that’s the focus of the Twitter hordes.
No context college football, an account with 35k followers, tweeted out multiple shots of him and he’s just taking a beating now. Unfortunately I think we will see it for years.

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
You are correct in that much of it isn't a lack of talent. The troubling aspect is that many of the bugaboos that showed up last week were on display again. Sometimes stuff snowballs and the more conscious you become of it, the more it continues to happen. At this point based on the performance of two games, I would say we are the fourth or fifth best team in the Sun Belt. That doesn't mean we finish that way but right now it would be where we are in my opinion.

I told my son we would miss the FG and sure enough. Actually I predicted a block. I am not one to call for a coaches head but damn our OC played for and coached at Marshall. Did he call the game for us to lose? When is the last time we ran up the gut like 20 times? I don’t recall such awful play calling.

I’m still trying to figure out the play calling from today. ZT looked out of rhythm at times too. The defense did their part. Can only hang on for so long if your offense doesn’t score. Disappointing performance on the national stage. Perhaps this will be a wake up call and it’ll help us refocus moving forward.

We can definitely be better. We will just have to hope Clark can right the ship.hapapp wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 7:20 pmYou are correct in that much of it isn't a lack of talent. I felt all the doom and gloom after we dropped 2 in a row to UMASS and ULM, but I think we broke off like 5 straight including our bowl game.
No matter what I’ll be watching next week, like always. Go Apps.

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
I was at the game and the CBS feed on big screen was relentless. It was really bad for like 10 mins that’s all that was on the screen was a close up picture of him. Honestly it was really bad.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 7:18 pmIt appears it’s the sad face/pouting on the sideline after the fumble that’s the focus of the Twitter hordes.

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
The good the bad and the ugly for today:
1: They wanted it a lot more than we did
2: O line got beat all day
3: special teams just ugly
4: way too many pre snap penalties
5: we gave up way too many 3rd and long conversation
6: looked like we just flat out gave up on our bread and butter play,
the outside zone run
1: defense played good enough to win....only gave up 17
2: we probably have the best 2 corners in the conference
So what does this team do now? NY6 and being ranked are over for this season. Will these guys do what App teams pride themselves on doing? Will they play for each other?

Don't worry. You are.savoyspecial21 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 6:04 pmOk, let's take the kid gloves off...and please note, i've been holding this back since last year, because i was trying to stay positive and optimistic...
Sean Clark was a step back.
It was a small time school/panic move.
And the unfortunate (possibly melodramatic) reality is, the growth and excitement and upward trajectory of this program has officially been stunted.
I truly, truly, truly hope i'm wrong.

Been beat 8 of 12 quarters since the change. I hope your right. Time for this staff to show what they got.AppinATL wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 7:35 pmDon't worry. Agreed. Plenty to fix and be concerned about but anyone calling for a head is off their rocker.
The small Part of me that isn’t sad right now is interested to see how Clark handles some early adversity.

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
Remember when Satt was a bad choice? Yeah, me too.
Maybe some folks need to put down the computer, grab a beer, and chill out. Let the season play out and see what happens. With the way some on here rush to judgement, I’d hate to work for many of you. I’d be fired on day 2...

Or, we could run the table. You sound like a Tar Heel fan. As David Jackson famously said, “give a Mountaineer a chance.”savoyspecial21 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 6:21 pmEveryone, please stop with the "wake up calls."
Last week was the wake up call.
But, the really scary part? In a season like this, it's going to be really easy to lose a team.
This could get ugly for Clark quickly.
But that's what usually happens when you hire the coach "every player loves."

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
I will say this I haven’t seen the polished teams of the last two years. Sc needs to show me a well polished team because this offense while missing Sutton and Evans should have been dominating. They are not even close as of right now.AppOrange wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 7:40 pmBeen beat 8 of 12 quarters since the change. I hope your right.
