The Monkey and The Griz Are Officially Off Our Back!
A long time since a quality OOC win at The Rock and FINALLY a victory over Montana!
A fine effort by both teams tonight, Both teams are top 10 tough.
Reminded me of some of our games with Furman, years back when they used to be good.
Just keep improving each week, and we could have a nice run.

Great game, still trying to calm down, I would not be surprised to see Montana again before the season is over. Damn good game!!!

Agreed guys. Great game. Defense showed up in the 2nd half. Man I'm psyched! The only thing that sucked was not being able to watch the game on ESPN(sucks)3.com. Oh well. Dave and Brownie painted the picture for me. Go Apps!

I'll take a rematch in Texas, maybe by then we can learn how to tackle their manster rb Moore. We did't stop him too many times. ....I think they just converted another 3rd down?

Moore was a beast. If we play them again we'll need to bring the whole team to tackle his ass. I've never heard a guy run the way he does. Glad we were able to buckle down when needed. I may not be able to fall asleep tonight!Black Saturday wrote:I'll take a rematch in Texas, maybe by then we can learn how to tackle their manster rb Moore. Re: The Monkey and The Griz Are Officially Off Our Back!
Great game-good halftime D adjustments. We made some mistakes, as expected for a young team but we also made some plays. If we play them again we need to put two spies on Moore. He was half of their offense and even when he didn't touch the ball, if he was in, everybody cut down on him and left the rest of the field open. My guess is DJ will have a different plan for him if we have to play them again or before next year. 3rd and long just killed us, especially in the first half. Also glad we cut down on the penalities. Overall it was a great effort against a great team. Again, we're still young and made some mistakes but if we can get through these next few games without any more big injuries I think we will be pretty tough by mid season. Hope Coach Jones brings the same type of D next week that he did for GS last year.

Seems like the struggle of the coaches finding cohesion, among their ranks, and players, has been corrected this year!

Congrats guys! Disappointed to lose this one, but definitely not ashamed. Our boys played their hearts out and came up short, but that's how football goes sometimes. Here's hoping we meet again in December!

Griz fans showed their appreciation for their team's effort by giving them a standing "O" as players were leaving the field...this was a great show of support!!! What a great football game! Would be nice to see you in Frisco but RB Moore has to stay on the bus...LOL!!! You also have an impressive Fr QB!!!

Re: The Monkey and The Griz Are Officially Off Our Back!
I brought three people with me who had never been to a game in Boone. They are now App fans. Two of them were high school students, one senior and one sophomore. The third was the sophomore's dad. The senior said he was going online today to get application information. The sophomore is a 6'2" 254 pound offensive lineman and he'd look really good wearing the black and gold in a couple of years after he grows another couple of inches and puts on another 35 pounds. The dad told me he couldn't believe how well he was treated. He said, "These people didn't even know me and they invited me to their tailgate and offered me their beer." The App family put its best foot forward and really impressed these folks.
I got to meet several of the Montana fans during the day. What a great bunch of guys! I hope they were treated as well as our fans have been treated in Missoula. The ones I spoke with were very positive about their Boone experience.
It's true every day, but Saturday was an especially great day to be a Mountaineer. The App family gained some new members, KBS was rockin' and we finally got a win over the Griz.

I will tell you Griz fans, you have a star in the making with your freshman QB McKinney - I was quite impressed - and RB Moore was as tough a runner (and fast) as I have seen in a long, long time ---live4dagriz wrote:Great game ASU! Games like this are HUGE for a young team. Our team grew up a lot before our eyes Saturday. Can't wait for the rest of the season! Oh, and East Georgia still sucks!Black Saturday wrote:Games like tonight are the reasons APP Football is so addicting.WataugaMan wrote:Great game, still trying to calm down, I would not be surprised to see Montana again before the season is over.
