Re: College Gameday to Coastal
1st sunbelt and obviously 1st for Coastal
Well deserved and hopefully paves the way for more SunBelt teams in the future. Would love to see GameDay come to Boone, though if it were going to happen and I had a choice, 2020 would be my last pick.

Great for CC. But I call BS on the idea that GD has not been to Boone with the App St football history

Am I envious? Yes. Do I hate Coastal for it? No. Do I despise Liberty and all that it stands for? Absolultely. I hope Coastal hangs 100 on them

Have to admit, it’s kind of hard to say but good for Coastal. They have one good season and get fawned all over. App. has accomplished so much more. But good for Coastal.

That's the nature of the "entertainment" approach to athletics. The sports media loves to find a good Cinderella story. It happens just about every year in the basketball tournament and many of those programs disappear into the woodwork once they have their 15 minutes of fame. App is in the awkward phase between Cinderella and an established power within the FBS world. We aren't quite where Boise State, UCF and a few others are but we are closing fast! I like where we are. I couldn't care less if Coastal has their 15 minutes.

I firmly believe we would have had College Gameday in Boone had we taken care of Georgia Southern both years. Unfortunately we never quite handled our business at the right times, and Coastal has handled their business at the right times. Ethan Joyce said something along the lines of that and I completely agree with him.

I do hope that down deep inside the people of North Dakota State and James Madison and now Coastal have an understanding that APP set the foundation for them getting this honor - I do think GameDay will eventually come to Boone - Keep in mind, a particular Saturday must not conflict with a huge P5 match-up because that will be where GameDay goes --- I have no ill feelings toward CC -

Re: College Gameday to Coastal
I was going to post something similar. App has helped pave the way for these other programs to gain recognition, starting with "biggest upset" that led to FCS teams getting AP votes which cascaded into NDSU and JMU hosting CGD. App and other SBC teams were able to gain traction due to Troy breaking down the top 25 wall and we have now seen 4 SBC teams ranked in the top 25. App made history last year by being the highest ranked SBC team in history and now CCU has taken the torch. Each step is a building block to the next "historic" achievement so I said good for the Chants and our conference. App's time will come and hopefully it'll be in the form of a top 25 SBC match-up making for good story lines of the ascent of the SBC as a whole. Now if a program in the west would step up to compete with ULLLLLLLL year and year out (looking at you stAte), it would give the conference 5-6 solid programs to help chase down the MWC.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 11:28 amI do hope that down deep inside the people of North Dakota State and James Madison and now Coastal have an understanding that APP set the foundation for them getting this honor - I do think GameDay will eventually come to Boone - Keep in mind, a particular Saturday must not conflict with a huge P5 match-up because that will be where GameDay goes --- I have no ill feelings toward CC -

This is correct. We all sound like we have sour grapes because well, we do. Hard truth is we didn’t get it done when it could matter.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 10:59 amI firmly believe we would have had College Gameday in Boone had we taken care of Georgia Southern both years. We blew our chances against Ga Southern twice and the result was no chance to get GameDay. Coastal was presented with an opportunity against App State, and despite being down at the half, came out and took the W from us. And earned a GameDay for it.
Also curious if we would be hosting GameDay this weekend instead of Coastal, had we have won. Two 8-1 ball teams. Both likely ranked. Fun to imagine.

Re: College Gameday to Coastal
If we had taken care of business this year we might be in top 10 NOW and might have had it in Boone. We would have been the story this year. We have a good team but we have not played enough clean (mistake free) football to be an elite team this year. I am happy for CC as they did what we should have done and sad for us because we didn't.

Although it is still good to have Game Day, this probably isn’t the best year to have it. Rather see it in Boone in it’s best format. Congrats to CC on a great year though.
