Lawwwwwwdy that was a Butt whuppin.
Goodness. almost double our rebounds, triple our assists, 6x our steals. Man.....
On the flipside of this Rick Barnes. Great coach who has been building a great program there the last few seasons. Before we totally crap on these guys lets see how we do in conference.

Re: U T
I watched a good bit on ESPN. I don’t think we had an open shot until late in the second half. I didn’t see open shots that weren’t falling. It was men against boys. In football we can man up with our undersized linemen and compete but a team with long, athletic dudes is about impossible to beat. Tennessee probably had 10 blocks and twice as many contested shots that never came close to going in. They haven’t played but 3 games but it doesn’t matter- legit good. We will compete (hopefully) against lesser Sunbelt competition but tonight was a different league.AppOrange wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:58 pmWatched on game cast, shot like 25% from the field and 60% from the stripe. Were they contested shots or were we just ice cold? Time will tell how bad this loss was, it UT is a 1 or 2 seed and we just had an awful night shooting, ok, chalk it up as bad and we choked. BTW, UNCC just beat Davidson.

Re: U T
Tough loss but it gives the team a clear look at how they match up against legitimate talent.
This game provides some opportunities to learn for our players. Plus, it's early in the season. So I think there are some positives to take away here.

Tenn looked legit. We played tight. Lots to learn from this game. This will make us better.

I don’t mean to be rude here, but do y’all watch college basketball? Tennessee has been very good for the last 3-4 years. They are #10 in the nation, and basketball rankings are much more reliable than football rankings. Did I read in this thread someone thought App might be a Top 25 team? App is much improved, but they won’t be ranked this year. Even when the Sunbelt has had good teams, they didn’t get ranked. I’m disappointed by the thrashing App got, but I wasn’t surprised at all. When Yves Ponds had that chase down block when we were down like 12-2, I knew this game was over.

Re: U T
I agree. I watched the UNCC, glad we won, however, neither team looked very good in that game. I was not expecting the margin in the Tenn. But expected it to be 20+. TN is good and has been good. We have not and are up and coming.. My opinion in UNCC game that carried over, we do not appear to be a very good 3 point shooting team especially if the defense is in the vicinity of the shooter. Offensively, we seem to be too much one on one on offense as compared movement on offense for a purpose. I admit that I only watched a little bit of TN game as it was out of hand early in the game. I hope the HC keeps building and maybe we can eventually get to the success that a UNC-G has had last several years.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 7:26 amI don’t mean to be rude here, but do y’all watch college basketball? I get it, but we had like 13 points in the first half. That’s really bad, even against a really good team.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 7:26 amI don’t mean to be rude here, but do y’all watch college basketball? Re: U T
To date this team has been a poor shooting team from behind the arc. I think the team made an effort early on to play their style but the Tenn D was so smothering that they took us out of our approach and I think it just devolved into a lot of individual play.
Like everyone else, I do see some growth in this team especially from the Fox years. However, last night was a wake up call that we are a long ways from being a good team. We don't really know much about this team as we have played so many non D1 teams to this point. We've really only played in two competitive games, winning one and losing one in OT. Most of the Belt teams will likely be similar to those two teams that provided the competitive games.

Re: U T
I hadn't watched UT this season. They looked great on defense. They're going to be a tough out for anyone. I felt like the score was more reflective of just how good this Tennessee team. Not to mention we were missing Forrest whose return will help bolster the offense.
Looks like Charlotte beat Davidson last night.

Re: U T
We played really stupid. Plus we couldn’t drop it in the ocean. A 22 point loss , ok that’s still bad but a 40 point loss is pathetic. I wasn’t sure how many times we were going to dribble into a double team, jump in the air then pass it to no one. Tennessee is a good team but they aren’t Virginia on defense. We played very poorly. Tennessee did what they had to do but it’s disheartening to see we weren’t even remotely competitive with them from the opening tip. I then watched Furman completely out play Alabama. I just can’t get over how we wouldn’t come close to winning the so con. I really hope to see improvement as I want some basketball relevance

Re: U T
Statistically, UT is better than UVA defensively this year, at least to date. UT is giviing up 47 points a game, the 'Hoos 57. UT's strength of schedule is 9 and UVA is 62.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 1:46 pmWe played really stupid. Plus we couldn’t drop it in the ocean. Re: U T
Late to comment but that game was rough. I remember back in 2015 we went to Chapel Hill and at least had somewhat of a respectable game and Shabazz made espn top 10. Nothing we did was worthy of a ESPN top 100. The play last night feels like 1 step backwards after two steps forward....

Come on man. Are you gonna tell me uva isn’t the best defensive team in the country? For like 10 years in a rowhapapp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 2:38 pmStatistically, UT is better than UVA defensively this year, at least to date. UT is giviing up 47 points a game, the 'Hoos 57.
