From the pace of this I would say guys are working this through with the coaching staff and the school. As others have mentioned it may not simply be their decision to stay. A lot of talent left on this list. Your right about Kaiden Smith. And I can’t help but mention that Malik Williams is the most unsung and underrated player on the team.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 12:27 amFor those who are keeping tabs is this sounding correct?
Not coming back
Ryan Neuzil
Noah Hannon
Zac Thomas
Shemar Jean-Charles
Returning
Corey Sutton
Thomas Hennigan
Caleb Spurlin
Demetrius Taylor
Unknowns
Baer Hunter- We expect him to return unless someone has heard something different
Shaun Jolly- Needs to return. Fringe draft pick who needs to come back.
Malik Williams- Hearing buzz he is coming back but no announcement yet.
Marcus Williams- I have no clue and don't think I have seen anything.
Kaiden Smith- Probably a PFA who could make a roster but could improve stock with one more year. He is more key to our secondary than people think. Put Jones, Jolly, Smith, Huff, and Ross along with the young guys and we have a great group.
Jalen Virgil- Hearing buzz that he may return or grad transfer. Anyone know here? He is the one who could help his draft stock the most of this group.
Mike Evans- No clue here
Jacob Huesman- I suspect he is going but not sure
Cole Garrison- Have not seen confirmation but I am assuming he is gone since he is in medical school.
Tim Frizzell- No clue on this one but I could see either way.
Chandler Staton- No clue on his status
Tommy Dawkins- Not sure on his status. Would love to get him back though. Underrated player.

Re: Decision Announcements
You are correct. It is more than just wanting to be here. They have to have the grades and followed the processes to be accepted into a grad program.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:26 amFrom the pace of this I would say guys are working this through with the coaching staff and the school. I'm always weary now of "highly touted kickers" after being burned by Rubino. Coming out of HS he was the #1 kicker in NC and that didn't work out too well.

Same. Man how nice would it be for this kid to come in and simply provide reliable kicking for four years. I’ve forgotten what it’s like not to break into a cold sweat every time we line up for a 35 yard field goal.

We also have Ryker Casey on the team, so it’s not like all of our hope rest on one guy.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:14 amSame. I get the same uneasy feeling on kickoffs... kicking out of the end zone consistently would be so nice...EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:14 amSame. Hell, I'd like to kickoff into the end zone every kick. That's a cold sweater too.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:14 amSame. Meech ever announce? All I remember was the announcers of the bowl mentioning he wanted to come back.

You know that kicking out of the endzone isn’t always the play design?AppStateMtneer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:39 amI get the same uneasy feeling on kickoffs... kicking out of the end zone consistently would be so nice...EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:14 amSame. Re: Decision Announcements
I was wondering if nfl scouts told him he projects better as a hybrid DT. I do think the extra step he had at 2019 playing weight is better than the benefits of more mass.AppStateMtneer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:53 amReally Hoping he does and at about 15-20 pounds lighter
Although I know he has twins and being a first time father to an infant I can understand if the extra weight wasn’t planned

Rubino was the best worst thing to happen to App..had he not missed those FGs, especially at TENN, Satt would have left in 2017 and we wouldn't have the upperclassman we have now.

I’d guess it was more the second point, in combination with being away from campus all spring and summer. Quarantine plus newborns would be a challenging combination for anyone.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 10:03 amI was wondering if nfl scouts told him he projects better as a hybrid DT. Re: Decision Announcements
I get what you are saying/feeling. It should be noted, however, that our kick coverage team was 16th in the nation only giving up 17 yards per return. Statistically speaking, we were better off not putting it in the end zone.AppStateMtneer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:39 amI get the same uneasy feeling on kickoffs... kicking out of the end zone consistently would be so nice...EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:14 amSame. The normal kickoff specialist was out for few games this year including CCU. When he was healthy and playing, it appeared we were kicking out of endzone unless directed by coaching staff.

Re: Decision Announcements
I apologize if this had already been covered, but how does 4+ players returning affect incoming freshmen numbers? If they are red shirted, do their scholarships count against our roster limit? I know we had one gray shirt and DBG is leaving, but seems like that still puts us over the limit by two.

Re: Decision Announcements
Agree there. I think Smith and Williams are the two most underrated players. Malik and Hennigan are equally important to me but Hennigan gets much more press and attention. Both of them are reliable and durable. They are tough and play their butts off. You can't help but love watching them play.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:26 amFrom the pace of this I would say guys are working this through with the coaching staff and the school. Smith is very underrated because he is a one-year starter but he has the attention of the NFL and he makes plays for us. I also think people undervalue Earle /Dawkins duo big time. If you noticed when he came out of the game that North Texas was able to really run it down our gut. Dingle is going to be good but he has to get bigger and stronger.

Players taking an extra year do not count against the 85 limit.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:15 amI apologize if this had already been covered, but how does 4+ players returning affect incoming freshmen numbers? From the sound of things, though, that may not be the case in future years (say if, just to pick a name, Ryan Huff were to return for an extra year in '22).
