Re: Peterson to Illinois?
But he was a horrible G5 OC that was washed up. How did he get a P5 job? Insert sarcasm.

Re: Peterson to Illinois?
I'm not saying this is a bad decision because I don't think TP is horrible and I know that he gave his best. There are times I think we could have had better play call flow but overall he was not horrible. With that said, P5s can make bad hires so just because he was hired does not mean they are right. It is all in who you know and he clearly has some good friends who like him. We will see if they are right on TP.
I do wish Tony good luck up there! He is a good man and will need the luck because Illinois does not have much talent and it is hard to recruit there. The campus is not appealing to people from what I hear from NFL people.

Re: Peterson to Illinois?
Because a bad P5 made a bad HC hire, who hired one of his contemporaries from an era in the Big 10 where they couldn’t throw the ball consistently?

I wasn't his biggest supporter, but I certainly wish him well. Even more so, I wish the incoming OC for the Black and Gold well. Excited to see how it works out for both Petersen and us.

one would be happy to have the #’s TP put up this year, the rest is a bunch of head scratching...

Re: Peterson to Illinois?
Regardless of who the replacement will be, we are going to see the same offense next year, which is the same offense we saw under Eli. The only difference is that whoever it is, is going to inherent the same group of skill guys that Eli essentially had. TP did not. Some due to opt out and some to injury. But please, by all means, hang this year all on Tony.

Re: Peterson to Illinois?
Zac’s decision wasn’t made based on coaches. That’s all that can be said about that.

Re: Peterson to Illinois?

Honest question: why is it impossible for y’all in the TP crowd to acknowledge anything wrong the guy did? What’s the excuse for the red zone offense going from top 25 to 106? Why does is not concern you that in his 3 years at ECU (really 2 bc he had play calling stripped the 2nd year, just like he had it stripped at La Tech after 1 year) that was also an achilles heel of their offense? Do you not think Redzone scoring is important? Does it not concern you that the reigning Conference Player of the Year went for 2 TDs and 6 INTs against the 3 quality opponents we faced all year? Any of this bother you?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 11:15 pmRegardless of who the replacement will be, we are going to see the same offense next year, which is the same offense we saw under Eli. WR injuries isn’t the answer btw. Wells, Davis and Horn showed more than enough ability to get open.

Re: Peterson to Illinois?
He coached scared, came up short in our biggest games, ran up huge totals against bad defenses, and had no coherent passing attack with which to beat teams. Glad he’s gone. He won’t last 2 years at Illinois. Zac, Malik and Hennigan all regressed under him.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 11:15 pmRegardless of who the replacement will be, we are going to see the same offense next year, which is the same offense we saw under Eli. We need to think bigger than handing jobs to former QBs either with no track record, or a non-descript one just because they played here.
Give me a proven innovator and talent developer. We have too much talent here to risk it on a Prodigal Son.

Re: Peterson to Illinois?
Looks like the Illini are assembling a washed up staff of former unpopular App coaches.

It seems like our o-linemen at the time we’re not very fond of this guy’s coaching style. Seems like Lamm left the team and then ended up coming back after McClain left.
