Agreed. Hate to pile on the kid but 3 walks in the first inning of an elimination game is simply unacceptable. The home run wouldn't have done us in. Springs is really gonna have to earn his playing time next year.WataugaMan wrote:Minus the terrible pitching at the top of the first, we win this one.

Even though we lost it was a fun game to watch. All the guys were visibly upset after the loss, Crespo was given a lot of respect after the game by the Citadel coaches and players.

What sux is how bad our fan support was at the Tournament. Might have been 100 fans with most being family of players. If we can't muster 100 fans at Greenville, I can't bear to think how embarrassing it will be at the Sunbelt Tournament.

Need to cut Springs some slack. The young man is battling back problems and being treated by chiropractor.asumike83 wrote:Agreed. no offense, butKgfish wrote: Need to cut Springs some slack. The young man is battling back problems and being treated by chiropractor.
1) that isn't common knowledge to most of us
2) if he has an injury that is hampering his performance then he shouldn't be playing because it is not helping the team nor himself

dont know much about this but who else would we put it? We have a thin pitching staff, that and clutch hits separate us from being a 30 win team and a 40 win team

He was the best option at that point. Keep in mind, he pitched the game we lost out of regional against Oklahoma last year and did good.mtnjax wrote:no offense, butKgfish wrote: Need to cut Springs some slack. The young man is battling back problems and being treated by chiropractor.

He's young. Battled an injury and confidence issues. He'll figure it out. If he already had it figured out he would've gone to a bigger school than app.

I didn't know he was hurting, hopefully he recovers quickly and is ready to compete next season.Kgfish wrote:Need to cut Springs some slack. I really liked this team and I just hate to see the season end. All things considered, I think the boys fought hard and had a nice year. Happy to have the Friday and Saturday starters coming back but we've got to develop some solid depth behind them.

Ironically so am I, treated for SI pain. By the way, after this week I'll never go to a chiropractor again. With that said, hearing that he had been treated by a chiropractor this week he had no business being in the game to begin with.Kgfish wrote:Need to cut Springs some slack. Re: App vs Citadel
College and pro team use chiropractors, many have them on their medical staffs, to rehab athletes. As some others have said Springs was the best option. Coach Jones told me he had the best stuff on the staff but injuries and confidence issues have kept him from being productive. Hopefully he'll be back on his game next year. Lots of talent coming back next season and hpefully Leach and Zupcic will be fully recovered.WataugaMan wrote:Ironically so am I, treated for SI pain. Pitchers coming in that are already better than a lot we now have. Kid from Ill. hitting 92-94 according to Billy. Losing Hector and Callaway are the only major hits, well Tyler Moore too. I think our smallcon farewell tour will be very enjoyable.
