I know that football scheduling is far less flexible, but it sure would be nice to see us scheduling in-state/ACC games with the same aggression in football that Davidson has in basketball.

The only thing that may help us is that the legislature's involvement for ECU has set a precedent. With that said, I don't anticipate seeing in-state ACC schools on our home football schedule for a long time. And, to be honest, I'm fine with that.kiddbrewer wrote:When in state/ACC teams won't have anything to do with us, then there isn't much our schedulers can do. That might change now that we are transitioning up, but probably won't be more than a one time contract for us to travel.
Look at how hard it was for ECU to get UNC and NCSU on their schedule. I suspect we will have just as hard a time, if not harder to get them on our schedule.

A road game and a "home" game at BoA in Charlotte would be a fine start and great for our fans. Very similar to what Davidson is doing in hoops by hosting the ACC teams at TWC in Charlotte.
Don't think we'd do it if there was a big chance of losing a lot of money.JCline0429 wrote:asumike83 wrote:After allowing the program a few years to transition and bring in FBS recruiting classes, I'd like to see App pursue some sort of series with one of the local ACC/SEC schools.

We would have to sell a lot of tickets at a very high price to pay the overhead that Jerry Richardson would charge to use BOA stadium. We could lose a lot of money playing there.

That is possible and I'm not sure what he'd charge but a game between App and a regional ACC/SEC opponent should bring a good crowd with how well represented we are in the Charlotte area.JCline0429 wrote:We would have to sell a lot of tickets at a very high price to pay the overhead that Jerry Richardson would charge to use BOA stadium. Do we have information available as to how much it would cost for such a game, or is this just speculation?JCline0429 wrote:ASUMountaineer wrote:Don't think we'd do it if there was a big chance of losing a lot of money.JCline0429 wrote:asumike83 wrote:After allowing the program a few years to transition and bring in FBS recruiting classes, I'd like to see App pursue some sort of series with one of the local ACC/SEC schools.

Thus, it's probably not feasible.
According to one of my coworkers who is heavily involved in the college games and bowl game at BOA the Panthers want around $3 million per game. So were looking at 60,000 tickets at $50 to break even.appst89 wrote:Do we have information available as to how much it would cost for such a game, or is this just speculation?JCline0429 wrote:ASUMountaineer wrote:Don't think we'd do it if there was a big chance of losing a lot of money.JCline0429 wrote:asumike83 wrote:After allowing the program a few years to transition and bring in FBS recruiting classes, I'd like to see App pursue some sort of series with one of the local ACC/SEC schools.

Some of that could be offset by selling the naming rights to said game, and for example, the Heels buying the game away from Boone, but even at that, the cost would be pretty steep.JTApps1 wrote:According to one of my coworkers who is heavily involved in the college games and bowl game at BOA the Panthers want around $3 million per game. Who would get the money brought in by concessions? How many cars would park at BoA? That could be $10-$20 per car, plus charge more if one wants to bring in a RV. Would that help offset the $3 million?AppinVA wrote:Some of that could be offset by selling the naming rights to said game, and for example, the Heels buying the game away from Boone, but even at that, the cost would be pretty steep.JTApps1 wrote:According to one of my coworkers who is heavily involved in the college games and bowl game at BOA the Panthers want around $3 million per game. Thanks for the info, that is something I didn't know. I haven't been to a game in quite a long time.appsfan wrote:We would get $0 for parking as there is no onsite parking at B of A Stadium.
