Capel's New 8 Man Rotation

Unread post by AppHoops » Wed Jun 05, 2013 2:40 pm

Hey everyone! Was interested to see what people thought the new rotation would be for next year's basketball team. By the end of the year, Capel really went with a 8 man rotation that included Obacha, Healy, Canty, Tab, Neal, Burgess, Baskin and Trice. Two of those guys have graduated leaving some space available for new players to step in and make an impact.

With Graham supposedly out of the picture, I guess we can assume that Obacha, Baskin, Neal, Tab and Canty will all start. Burgess is more than like the backup at PG that will garner the most minutes unless Ty Toney blows up.

Who else can we expect to log major minutes off the bench next season?

I look for Burgess to be the starting point with Neal spliting time at the 1&2. Burgess is a much truer point and if his shot gets where it needs to be over the summer, he will be a good PG for us.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Welcome to the board.

I think that Michael Kobani will log significant minutes down low. If he is as advertised, could provided a nice boost in the post. If Capel is able to land Harold Givens, he'd likely be in the rotation on the wings as well.

2014 is sink or swim for Capel. With a 20+ win season out of this group, I think he will be renewed. If not, we'll probably have a new coach for our first SBC season.

Thanks asumike83 I'm happy to be here!

Kobani I think will be a big factor down low off the bench. Anyone know how Aaron Scott will fit into the equation? He was the most highly sought recruit we landed according to the number of schollys he was offered (20). Rivals thinks highly of him.

With Charleston gone and Davidson losing 3 senior starters, anything is possible. I'm not holding my breath but the conference will be wide open.

Rule of thumb- Whatever we tried last season, don't try this season.

Davidson is still going to be tough. Their bench was deep last year.

Elon will be tough again as Matheny is a legit coach.

UTC could surprise some people with Will Wade as their coach and bringing HAVOC to the Mocs.

But yes, an 18-12 type season won't cut it for Capel this year me thinks.

You're grasping at straws. Laughing at the idea this team can win 20 games after 3 years of not coming close with more talented players is far from asinine. Capel was handed a championship contending program and he destroyed it. I want him replaced but I would never "root against" our team. You try to present yourself as a voice of reason but a statement as insulting and borderline moronic as that one dispels that idea.

Thanks for the compliment! I hope the name calling made you feel better. Far be it for anyone to disagree with your objective voice in this matter.

I have no idea whether 20 wins is possible next year or not, but why would you dismiss it out of hand? I think everyone agrees that this is likely a make or break year for Capel and his staff. And while I don't honestly believe you cheer against ASU, your post sure seems like its rooting against the coach, if not the team.

If Graham had come 20 wins would have been expected by me personally. Still need a PG that can score.

We're going to begin to find out in exactly 13 weeks and two days. Unfortunately, even with scholarships yet to give, we already have fifteen players and counting. There's no human way for Capel to keep that many kids happy riding the pine. We already have an "on paper" prescription for controversy and mutiny.

Hope Capel and his staff can get all the gears to mesh early and often!

You started tossing this by around insults and now you want to play the victim. Nice! I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with me but that's not what you did. You didn't give your opinion, you attacked me with a false and deceptive comment. And that feeble attempt to backtrack out of what you said is pitiful.

I leveled no insults. I suggested that your post appeared to be rooting against the coach and the team. It still appears to me that is the case. You can twist this however you wish but the venom has all flowed from your posts. But, if you feel victimized so be it. At this point, I will give you the last word if you wish but I've said all that I intend to say.
