I don't know exactly but a banner on the press box reads "Totem off the turf" which leads me to think it may have been Catawba Indians. That means with the turf plus the lettering and numbers look very fresh I'm guessing probably 1968, 69, 70....somewhere in that era. FYI KBS (nee Conrad Stadium) at that time looked like this.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

I began by thinking it might have been Leon , 1970. Looks like turf and that was the first game on turf. BUT, that game was in October and it looks like maybe to many leaves on the trees. On the other hand , it’s black and white, so early October it could be. So my guess is, Leon October, 1970 Carl Messier.

App became ASU in 1967, Astro turf installed for 1970 season, and Conrad stadium expansion started in 1978. So based on those dates this pic is from 1970 to 1977.
